what causes the holographic effect on cars?

After using Sonax for the first time today, I noticed a holographic effect on the side of my car with the sun at a low angle. I used #34 FI to remove it, could it be residue or "glossifers" from the Sonax? Never had issues with P21S wash or 1Z Perls.

Thanks!

Nothing like that when I used sonax... Though I had a little sonax and megs deeep crystal and mixed them ... What can it hurt... Filled the bottle back up... I even mixed up some 1Z perals in there for good luck...

I have wash around 350 cars with Sonax high gloss shampoo and never realised any new hologram. In fact, very satisfied with it.

Careful with wahsing & drying tools you use. The may contain some invisible dust may provoque micromarring.

By definition, holograms only can be produced by rotating machines.

It depends on what this "hologram" look is you're talking about, but it could be either:

a) smeared/hazy product residue

b) damage from someone using a rotary polisher incorrectly

Definitely choice "A" - but I will use it again to see. And everyone that doesn't have a black car you must understand it shows everything and depending on lighting and sunshine angles. I was washing it at 6pm with sun low in the sky, so a perfect direction on the side panels.

You folks who are getting "holographic effects" that are *NOT* true, rotary-induce holograms are lucky, especially those of you with Audis!

With all the different variables- your water, your LSP, the dirt you're cleaning off the vehicle, your wash technique, etc. (and similar factors when QDing) it's not unreasonable that *some* shampoos will work better than others. If [whatever brand/product] doesn't work for you, I'd say to just try something else. Like any other detailing product, it's not like everyone has to get great results with every product.

It occurs to me that with #34, the alcohol content might be softening the LSP.

Right-on my Audi brother :D I never knew #34 had alcohol, so that would remove my wax? Or I could have a QDing party at the same time too :D And what is LSP?

Me neither, guess that's why it has more cleaning ability than say FD. I hope FI doesn't soften Klasse SG, otherwise I better use FD exclusively except before and in between polishing steps.

LSP is last step product.

So would using Quik Shine from the consumer Megs line be better for me? I assume that doesn't have alcohol, but I think FD is in gallon sizes eh? Thanks.
