What can you use on your wheel?

I have an aluminum mag and I want to protect them from the harshnest of the Winter. Is there a wax that you could apply to the metal and will keep the salt from attacking it.

I sprayed AquaWax today and hopefully it will protect them until I find a better product to use.

i use AW if i'm in a hurry...but if you want durability go with collinite or a quality sealant (duragloss, zaino, UPP) as the primary layer of protection...then top off with AW every few washes and you're all set!

I thought I would bump this older thread instead of attempting to start a new one.

Can anyone tell me if DP Wheel Glaze will work any better than an application of EX-P or UPP on my wheels to prevent brake dust accumulation? Ive got a cart open at AG and was thinking about picking up a tin.

That said, I have a myriad of sealants and waxes that dont see too much use anymore that I would happily relegate to wheel duty if I thought they would be as good as a product designed to work on wheels. (ie. Wheel Glaze or Wheel Wax)

Here is what I do...

  • Remove the wheels from the car the first time and then about every six months thereafter
  • Wash well and clay using an old piece of clay dedicated to wheel work
  • Klasse AIO followed by Klasse SG (have also used JW Prime Strong followed by JW Acryic Jett)
  • 24 hours later apply Duragloss Aquawax
  • Clean with mild soap and water once a week
  • Spot clean once during the week using ONR mixed up as a QD solution and applied from a spray bottle
  • Reapply the Duragloss Aquawax once a week after washing the wheels

I have found that this works very well for me. If you already have an AIO and LSP product that you use and like I suggest trying them (as long as they are something durable) before going out and buying more products (unless of course you are looking for a reason to buy more products).

One of the reasons I really like KAIO and KSG is that I can use them for pretty much everyrthing (paint, wheels, glass and even some trim). The product works well, lasts and goes a long, long way.
