What brand of MF detergent do you like?

A friend of mine and I are looking for a bulk purchase....have tons of microfiber to wash during the detailing season...

1. Excluding the excellent Charlie's Soap, what brands do you like and why from a performance standpoint?

2. What are the best deals to be had on a per ounce basis?

Here's what I have found so far-let me know if I am missing any other sources:

AutoGeek

MicroRestore $12.99-15% = $11.04 for 32 ounces $0.345 per ounce.

Pinnacle $25.50 for 64 ounces after 15% discount $0.3984 per ounce.

Danase

$29.95 before discount on gallon of MicroRestore. $0.23 per ounce.

PakShak

MicroPak Soap - 32 ounces at $17.99 before any discount. $0.562 per ounce.

Charlie's Soap - $20 a gallon, 128 ounces $0.15625 per ounce.

I am interested in the best blend of price and performance and might be willing to pay more if performance is there. Generally prefer 32-128 ounce volume...

Thanks for your comments and advice. :)

Save yourself some $$ and use good old fashioned liquid detergent and hot water. I recommed Era and Liquid Tide. 30+ years in the textile industry and I still have yet to see a detergent that knows the size of the yarn it's cleaning.

I used Wunder Wasche on my red carpets once and it did an excellent job of shampooing, so the following week I tried woolite and I couldn't tell the diff while using and the results afterwards.

Guess what I'll be using for my MF and buffing towels? (there aren't softeners in woolite are there?)

**EDIT**

Then my suggestion goes to Sonus Wunderwash. Got some in a detail kit I bought a long time ago and it worked well..as well as the "other" stuff. But, if you plan to buy a lot, then it's quite expensive because I don't think they sell it in the gallon size. CMA has some good microfiber cleaners as well for cheaper per oz.

Please, let's just discuss mf detergents. I understand that some may believe the performance of laundry detergents is the same but I feel differently. Thank you. :)

I used to use the MF specific products but decided to give Charlie's a try. I could take a picture of a towel that has dried more than 20 cars if you'd like. It feels and looks just like it did the day I got it.

Sorry I was so feisty earlier...just looking for a specific thing.

CMA has a terrific deal at $22.95 per gallon. This is very close to Charlie's and probably the winner.

22.95 / 128 = 0.179296875 per ounce

Thanks Bioman! :)

You can use the 15% discount and FREE shipping to buy a gallon of Pinnacle Micro Rejuvenator Microfiber Detergent Concentrate http://www.pinnaclewax.com/pin622.html

When you look at the various sizes, it is the best deal. But that MicrRestore from Bioman is nice too! Buy a carton and spend $3 more dollars and get free shipping.

I abandoned my long time stance on using regular detergents (Tide Free) after I tried Charlies Soap. I re-visted MF detergents and now find them to work better and rinse cleaner than traditional soaps and come out fluffier and softer (along with Charlies).

So I rotate between Pinnacle, Charlies soap or an ounce or two of Charlie's APC.

Yes, I did. It is definitely a quality soap. I may be mistaken but I did a couple of loads last summer of grime filled mf and the Pinnacle product did a much better job. Maybe the mix of stains tilted things one way or the other...

Perhaps I will do another test and take some pics now that I have my digital camera. I would like to buy the Charlie's and save some money although it seems only a buck or two with the CMA deal.

Are you sure Seth? I think I looked into that and the price was still a bit high...

Let me check. (50-15%=42.50) / 128 ounces = 0.33203125

CMA still leads...

I edited my comments after I saw Bioman's post. I should have read it before I posted :o

No problem Seth.

....I wonder if CMA offers a discount? Anyone know...might be able to get a lower price than Charlie's if so...

I have Charlie's soap because its a lot more economical for me. You can try pretreating the towels with Charlie's APC (Another excellent product).

We ordered from CMA. I am working on designing a test for the detergent.

We will probably look at dirt/grime removal, economics, softness, and overall look. We will test against Liquid Tide, Charlie's Soap, and Pinnacle MR.

Will post results in next 1-2 weeks. :)

Overall look? It's possible to tell what product you washed with in the same manner some can one LSP from another? I may need to take a trip to the eye doctor  :p

SilverLexus- When I first pulled up this thread, I thought "it won't go six posts before somebody says you ought not buy the product under discussion" ;)

I like Charlie's so much that I recetnly bought ten gallons (yeah, love that free shipping!), but when it comes to my MF detailing cloths, my experiences mirrored yours. I look forward to the results of your testing.

FWIW and after the fact, I bought a gallon of MicroPak last time. I just did a round-numbers comparo; I commend you on looking into the comparative pricing more thoroughly. It works the same as MicroRestore, at least under my conditions.
