what between m105 and m205?

Should there be an intermediate polish used between m105 and m205? the abrasiveness scale of them is very far apart.

M105 has a good bit of cut but finishes down very well

so you should be able to finish up with M205
 
On my dark silver paint m105 on a orange pad finished down 95% lsp ready. m205 took it the rest of the way.



M205 is the perfect match for it. The only thing you might want to use if you want to really get it as perfect as humanly possible is an even finer finishing polish. Something almost non abrasive but still has slight slight cut.



Im fine with finishing with m205 though
 
The entire point of the products is to allow a two step process, with no middle product.



The M205 FINISHES like an ultra-fine polish, but has the cut of a medium polish (has same cut as M80).



Also, M105 has a cut of 12, but finishes like a medium to fine polish.



Use them together, and you have the perfect 1-2 punch combo.
 
If you absolutely need something in-between I'd suggest a) making sure you're not doing something wrong with the M105 and/or b) trying the M105 with a less aggressive pad before switching to the M205.

I'd have to agree with this.



If I used M105 and a W5000 wool pad I may follow up with a foam W7006 pad before going to M205...it really depends on the paint, but I have yet to need anything in between. I also see no reason to go with anything less agressive than M205 when used with a finishing pad.

Could try SwirlX in between, it's supposed to be in the middle of the two in terms of aggressiveness(and they say the Ultimate Compound isn't a lot less aggressive than M105).

to piggyback on your statement, I would think that UC is in-between 105 and 205. SwirlX is closer to 205 but might still be an acceptable "middle" step.
 
guy there are 100's of products that you COULD use between them



but the point is that you SHOULD not need to!





why make it harder then it needs to be?



these are not the classic Diminishing abrasives

it's a whole different game
 
Depends on the pad and the paint--lots of variables.



If the paint is soft and you use a twisted wool pad, then I would use the M86 solo polish with a polishing pad before moving to M205.



Then again if the paint is that soft, then I probably wouldn't be using twisted wool. :D
