What are your Top 3 Process Tips?

Just wondering what are the most impactful process steps people have learned hanging out on these detailing boards?

I have to say mine are:

1. Swirl removal by PC.
2. Claying certainly helped a boat load as an early step.
3. Using a quality quick detailer like Z-8 frequently.

What are yours and why did you choose them?

Re: What are your Top 3 Process Secrets?

My favourite tips I learned:
1. Oxiclean matt & carpet cleaning (though I've changed to Automagic shampoo, the principle is the same).
2. Clean windows one direction inside and a different direction outside (easy to pick up streaks).
3. KAIO.

I concur with SilverLexas and PEI Detail with there tips.

Brenton, that is an excellent observation on the window cleaning. Had never thought of that before. Will employ that practice the next time that I do windows. It certainly makes sense.

Washing techniques. Two bucket method, using many good sheepskin mitts during the wash and a foamgun to help reduce marring.

I agree with most of the previous suggestions. I would add removing the nozzle from the hose and sheeting water off the car. Really reduces drying time and water spots.

Same here, it really saves tons of time and energy.

Also, I would have to say
2. Clay during wash
3. S&W to extend time between washes

Like PEI Detail said, If I could only have one product in my arsenal it would be AIO! It works on everything!!

Microfiber towels are the best thing since sliced bread and the easy of use they create is very helpful.

Good one!! Only a commercial guy would think of that one. :lol:

I've had days when streaks almost drove me insane.

#1 - Household products are good. I use Woolite and water, Vinegar & water, etc... on A LOT of details.

#2 - Polish 1/2 of the car at a time. Going panel by panel takes too long. (Thanks GSRstilez for this tip -watching you work was an education).

#3 - Invest in a Blower to dry and a Power Washer to clean. My Power Washer died, but I'm getting a new portable one. They save time, water, and clean very well. 1100PSI is PLENTY of power.

#4 - Keep an open mind on process and product. You can learn something new every day this way. If you get too set in your ways, there's really no use in hanging out on the boards.

All of the above are great tips. I just learned a few more reading this thread. Just proves what mgm2003 stated about keeping an open mind, and you will learn new things everyday. Thanks

1. Several bucket method for regular washing.
2. Foam gun. Enough said.
3. Using a Cyclo polisher where a PC just won't cut it. (Thanks Bill!!)

* Foam gun
* PC to Rotary
* Oxi clean and Folex. Couldnt afford those steam xtractor yet. So, Oxi clean Folex its a poor man carpet cleaner. :lol:
