What about cold temperatures

Hi There...

Every time I read a review or a discussion about a product or even the details about a detailing job I hear references of how well or how bad a product performs in the heat.

What about for us here in the north, how do products behave in cooler temperatures? Right now we are at mid day time temperatures of about 65 or so and much cooler in the mornings.

How are products affected by these colder temperatures?

Typically when the temps drop below mid 40's, cure times and drying times can be real long, below that bonding of the product is also an issue. Read the labels on the product it should tell you the temp range to work with it

Unfortunately, I just picked 6 products at random from my cupboard, and none of them had a temperature range.

I would say the majority of products will do fine. Beemerboy made a good point with cure times but that's the biggest issue. If its cold enough that your products and water is freezing, its too damn cold to be cleaning a car anyway.

y wash in cold...brrrrrrr....Here in Canada when it gets cold and i want to was my car, there is underground garage with pressure washer (neat). so i take my cleaning supplies and booom off i go. Pressure washer is good to remove all that grim/salt off. :)

Wish I had that option!

I thought you needed at least 50 degrees for most products to bond properly? Is that incorrect, or is it on more of an individual product basis?

That was what I thought also and that is why I was asking the question. I would like to coat the cars for protection for the winter months and I am trying to figure when is the latest I will be able to do them. I found this article on the Meguiar's site, so I'm assuming it probably applies to all other brands of product.
