What a FLEX can correct.

FLEX CORRECTIONS

If any of you are curious to what the FLEX can correct, here are a few pictures of a Corvette a worked on today. The lady asked if would clean her car and of course she opted out of a wax or detail. I’m so tired of all these cheap SOBs! Anyway back to the topic. I am very pleased w/ my FLEX purchase. I’ve only been using it a week now, and I already feel very comfortable w/ it. I’ve used it w/ a variety of pads and many different products. I mainly use Menz SIP and 106, but it works very well w/ all in one products too!

Process: Wash w/ soap via foam gun and white Schmitt

Dry w/ Guzzler

SIP x 2 w/ orange pad

106 w/ white pad

Collinite 845 w/ red pad

looks great shady...do you have any pics of the entire car finsihed??

I wish I did, but she only wanted a wash and vac this time. She had no clue how bad her car even looked until I did the half of the trunk. She's going to let me do the entire car after Christmas. I'll be sure to post pics then. Sorry!

Definitely some good stuff!!! Reminds me of the black Acura MDX that was in similar shape. Before/afters were unreal. So, you took SIP to it twice? What was your process each time? Just trying to see if you did 2 quick runs at each section, or 1 slower / 1 quicker, or were they both real slow along with how many passes per run. Just some comments on your process would be appreciated in the best interest of sharing techniques and tips.

First and second pass w/ SIP were about the same. I spread the polish on 3, then moved it up to 6. The motions went something like this; up and down, right to left, up and down, right to left, then diagonal. I would say each one last about 1 minute. The FLEX really speeds up polishing. I can't believe I used try to correct w/ the PC. Hope this helps.

Cool, thanks for the reply. Yeah, I was in the same boat with the PC. It worked well with 4" spot pads, but it could take a while to do cars with that small of a pad.

thank you for sharing this, this is the kind of response i am looking for regarding the Flex. now that you've used this a while, how close would you compare this to the rotary on correction (percentage wise)?

Do Menz polishes break down sooner than Optimums? I wonder if OP or OC would have gotten it in one pass since it takes longer to break down. Either way, looks good.

From my experience using Menz Power Gloss, IP, and Micro Polish, yes they do break down sooner than OP and OHC. Menzerna 106FA seems to have a bit longer working time than the other Menz polishes that I have used.

who is experienced with both rotary and flex? Reason i ask...from time to time i have a couple buddies come along on details to help me out and im wondering if its beneficially to have them use a flex while i man the rotary to speed up the job or can the flex still not touch the correcting abilities of a rotary

You know, WK446, had started a comparo with the Flex and several other machines including a Metablo rotary, but I really haven't seen anything from him lately.

WK446 - you still out there???

I've been wondering the same thing, actually how close it a Flex to a rotary. Right now I use a Cyclo, PC, and Hitachi. I've been thinking about getting a Flex for my workers to use, it will correct better than a PC and I don't have to worry about them hurting the paint.
