Wg & Ex-p

STUTTGART'S FINEST
OK, I HAD to do a little experiment yesterday.

Seeing I have WG sealant on the SC430 and I really need to remove some cobwebs etc, I needed something to do prior.

Well, I have my shipment of SSR 2.5 and EX-P. Thought came to mind, "Why not top WG with EX-P to see any changes".

I topped the WG with one coat of EX-P, didn't wait long, just enough for it to flash cure. Wiped it off one panel and grabbed the bottle of EX-P to check panel reflectiveness.

Seems at first looking at it w/o bottle seemed to dull it a bit, not as sharp. However, putting the bottle in the mix and now it seems more reflective and sharper lettering reflecting off the panels. COntinued with the rest of the car. Very reflective and deep looking.

I KNOW I KNOW " THIS POST IS WORTHLESS W/O PICS!" I'm working on it. Damn it, wife had camara and of course yesterday I had some good shot opportunity of clouds overhead, etc.

I know EX-P has some petro solvents, so I hope it didn't fully wipe out the WG. Need to polish anyway.

Interesting effect. I sure wasn't going to top with Souveran if I was to polish, that would be a REAL waste :D

Anyone else try this yet?

Shhhhhhhh!

I tried and like EX-P over well-cured (3 weeks not driven and in garage) Zaino x 3 layers. I moistened a MF applicator with Z6 and applied EX-P using very light pressure and very, very thin coat. Allow to dry ~30 minutes.

Very pleased with results on black non-metallic. :D

You didn't hear about this experiment from me. ;)

Now there's something to try!

Maybe after that, top with Souveran who knows?

I really need to remove those cobwebs! Gotta setup the canopy as my garage has no power.... yet!

I did play with SSR2.5 via hand on one area on front fender. Not too shabby this stuff! You can feel the abrasives in it. Did it with a foam applicator pad until powdery.

Prior to adding the EX-P over the WG, I did a QD with the new Megs Last Touch just to get any dust off. Not bad the LT! The WG was maintained with 2 time application of Crystal Mist for added depth/wettness. Never tried the CM, so I figured, "What the hell?"

All of this was removed with ExcelDetail's gold edgeless MF and then last wipe/buff with a DFTowel. Very slick.

The SC430 does not see rain, so don't really care for beading etc, just as long as it stands out from other cars. Seems there is a plethera of sealant laden cars from dealers in the area, mostly BMW & Benz. Very glossy, but no depth!

Looks like time to break-out the Z5/Z2 once again. Sure did like the Z5/Z2 topped with Souveran, now THAT was bright AND deep/wet!

That reminds me, I wonder how my neighbors are doing with the 1Z Perls and Souveran paste I gave then to try? Haven't seen the Boxter, so who knows. I do know the husband really loved it when he topped his black Zaino'd Z06 Vette!

Maybe one day time to try that Eagle Wax Kamikaze poly sealant and or the other sealant I hear from the forum, Crystal Guard? Maybe I should stay with the more Pro line of sealants from AutoMagic and other sources.... Decisions..Decisions..

Excellent! I really like that top view of your car.

I've noticed the same with Wolfgang, in that it isn't quite as reflective as some other sealants. Not that it is a bad thing, WG is meant to look more like carnaubas anyway. EX-P leaves a more clear and reflective look without being so mirror-like you can't tell what color the car is from some angles. Never thought of trying one over the other though to blend the look.

I may try one panel with just Wolfgang, one with just EX-P and one with both products just to see if the differences are really that noticable.

Bananas!

:runsoutsidetoputonex-p:

Car looks greattt! Love the new wheel covers too...Changes the whole look!

Hate your pics (but only because I'm jealous...) :D

Great look for the 430! Test drove it for kicks but way out of my price range...

Yep, looks better in person with EX-P on top of the WG. Shot these at 640 so it's not AS sharp, but you get the idea.

The new covers are 1000% improvement! Hated those "Pie-Plate" covers. The old ones made it look awful! At least now it looks a bit more like a sports car.

GSRstilez:

See what I mean about the EX-P over WG? Bright, but deeper/wetter look. It was just hit with the new Megs LT prior to shots. So this is what you will see if you ever get up this way!

Damn thing still has cobwebs/swirls.. Just never enough time to setup the canopy and drag all the products out. People at our condo always comment on how it "glows'. Most think I'm anal as hell (yep, I am when it comes to cars) in keeping it clean. One asked what the hell I was doing under the car while it was on the ramps. What else? Detailing the underside! Looks good when your behind it and see the lower arms all nice and bright! HUMM, maybe some EX-P on the lower control arms? That's going to be a PITA to do, but if it looks good, why not? Maybe I can thin the EX-P and use it in wheel wells..Gotta email Steve on what to cut it with so it works. Should beat out Megs EK for this.

The SSR 2.5 i tested on one fender small area by hand. Works really good guys, give it a try in place of DACP.

Back to the grind!

Deanski have you tried PB's Bold & Bright? It works very well for fenders and tires. B&B gives that new car look to the fenders wells.

That's a remeinder. I getting low. :(

Here's one in the garage looking out. Notice the broom in the corner reflection? Is this sick or what? Damn this works well together!
