Wetsanding isnt that bad!

Boy was i scared to begin with. Taking sandpaper to my finish? That was a very scary thought. I decided this morning that i needed to try and tackle some light 'scuffs' in the paint that would not come out w/ Dacp on a yellow pad at 6. I allowed the 3m 2000 and 2500 grit paper to soak overnight in perls shampoo, i then used perls shampoo in a spray bottle as lube while i worked, the 2000 minimized the scuff very good, then onto the 2500 which left a haze on the paint. I then used some #2 w/ hard pressure on a MF applicator, i then went to dacp on a MF app., then 9 w/ a MF app. and finally topped it off w/ nxt. The scuff is nowhere to be seen. I now have to tackle the other few scuffs : (. Just thought i would share this in case anyone is afraid of wetsanding a few trouble spots they may have.

I also had the same experience with my black car. Someone keyed my car but it wasnt that deep. But it's very obvious that it's there. I was planning of getting my passenger side repainted so i was like what the hell. I then sanded it with a 1500 grit. I know i should've used a finer grit but this is the only one available on my hand at that time. I kept the paint and the sandpaper soaked. i used #34 FI to keep the paint lubricated. I followed with DACP with the cutting pad then IP and FP. Now you really have to look at the paint closely that it's there. The scratch was deep enough to be felt with my fingernail but i guess shallow enough to be fixed. I was pretty happy with the results.

Glad it worked for you Robb, I wetsand very sparingly from time to time if necessary, it worked well for a few stubborn scratches on my white paint

ive doen a few cars some with ornge peel bad enough to need 800 on up its not hard but i dontlook forward to doing it you almost need a roatary for cutting after buffing

i polished it by hand using a MF applicator, i have a pc but the spot was so small i didnt want to break it out. By hand it came out very good.

The phrase "clearcoat failure" comes to mind. But Hey, whadda I know? Not to worry, it takes months before it shows...

Note that the top 1/3 of the Clear gives the shine, once you remove that, your clearcoat protection is gone.
