curb got in my way and I scratched the low front spoiler on my 07 328XI ... its deep enough that polishing will not do any good?

I used some wetsand to remove too much touch up paint on another car, seemed to go OK ...

any thoughts on wetsanding deep gouges on the lower spoilers?

if you need a pic I'll post later ... its just UGLY

Those panels are made out of plastic, which makes them different to work with than metal panels. Usually the paint is thinner and contains flex agent. In addition the plastic does not dissipate heat like a metal panel. This comes in to play when buffing out the sanding scratches with a rotary. The panel can easily heat up too much and you can burn the paint. I would imagine that if they are deep gouges, the underlying plastic has been affected as well. I would learn to live with it or take it to a body shop.

thanks folks! < I figured as much >

I'll cough up the cashola for a new front spoiler on return of the lease ...

Wait and see, they might not dock you for it. Normal wear & tear and so on...remember that they're not, uhm...Autopian and if they want to keep your business they might be mighty charitable anyhow.
