Wet-Sanding Plastic Bumper

You may recall I detailed a blue Audi A4 Avant last summer. The rear bumper was scuffed to hell from people dragging suitcases or whatever over it. I tried buffing it out with my Griot's random to minimal success. Only a month or so later did I think of wet-sanding it. These people are good repeat customers, I expect them back this summer and I'd like to perfect the bumper if possible.

I'm a wet sanding noob and did a search and found that people suggested using 1500 to 2000 grit sandpaper. As far as lubricants go, would using a Quick Detailer work?

Thanks.

Quick detailer will work as long as it's a slippery one. If it's more of a spray wax then you shouldn't use it for that.

sandpaper should be soaked thoroughly in soapy water and soapy water should be the lubricant ...
remember plastic bumpers are not the same as the body ... flex agents make the bumpers a bit harder to deal with :notme:

Not knowing anything about wet sanding ex that I'm too scared to try it...... Don't you need to soak the sand paper over night or something like that?

you only need to soak the paper for about 15 minutes, but the longer it soaks the softer it will get ;)
