Weird Interaction with Rupes T-Shirt

So, I'm sitting at CA Tortilla eating street tacos and wearing this Rupes t-shirt:

I notice a guy in line in front of me, with what appears to be his wife and grand child. These people look as strait and as square as you can get. Ok. So we both order our food, sit down at separate tables - and start eating.

Then the guy gets up, walks over to me, and sits at my table. He says: "See those guys on your shirt - I knew some of them up at Rikers Island"... I'm like "uhh What?".

Then he tells me: "Yeah, I was up at Rikers Island for a long time. We had guys there who dragged their knuckles on the ground. But some of them weren't too bad... We messed around sometimes and lost our pants when the guards were away"

I was like..."OK"

Then, he got up and walked back to his table.

Dunno.

Guy got up and just walked back to his table.

This isn't the first time some stranger has made some weird comment about this Rupes t-shirt. This time is by far the oddest interaction.

But, I can recall wearing this shirt, at least 2 or 3 other times ,and strangers commenting something about the Bigfoot picture. I think someone once thought it was a movie about Bigfoot.

I always found that shirt a little weird, we know what its about but to look at it makes me think of knuckle draggers.

Just tell them it's Italian and hang your hand out for a fist bump. You get some puzzled looks in return.

There are are several connotations of the term "Knucke Dragger". Not just behind the times, uniformed or unintelligent. If you're a snowboarder it means one thing and a couple of other groups of peoples have their own definitions as well. Some supremacists use this term in a most derogative manner. He may have been trying to determine your affiliation. That said, that last part of his comments definitely would have me thinking down another road.

Definitely strange. I would buy a Rupes t shirt but didnt care for the characters. Just plain RUPES & BIGFOOT emblems would be good enough for me. Thats my vote Todd.

Just to make it clear. The guy who came up to me was a black dude. I'm a white dude. I don't think his point was anything "racial". Honestly, I don't think he even had a point.

There goes my therory out the window. Then again, maybe that WAS his way of identification. :)
