I finally got to take some pictures of my Mach1 with its latest combo: RMG, FMJ, and Trade Secret.

Process:

Wash - two bucket method w/Poorboy's SS&S car wash

Polish - Poorboy's SSR 2.5 w/polishing pad to remove water spots and swirls

Glaze - Clearkote's Red Moose Machine Glaze w/ finishing pad

Sealant - Menzerna's Full Molecular Jacket applied by hand w/ Micropak MF applicator, 2 coats

Wax - Trade Secret Carnauba Wax, 2 coats

Tires dressed with Meguiar's NXT Protectant

Black plastic trim dressed with Poorboy's Trim Restorer.

I think I'll have to play around with the RMG more to find out what goes good with it. This current combo is nice, but nowhere as wet as the VM+RMG+TS combo I had earlier. That combo gave a real "dripping with salad oil" look. But yeah, I think I'll be trying out different combos in the future, maybe EX w/carnauba or something similar.

Anyways, on to the pictures.

Here is the Mach1 with just RMG. It was a really sunny day with very little clouds, which really washed out my Azure Blue.

Sorry, but I took these pictures after work, close to sunset. There were also more clouds in the sky when compared to the previous picture.

This pictures gives you an idea of the kind of day, and the time of day(near sunset) I was taking the picture.

You can see my neighbor's Lexus which I detailed a while ago, in the background. It still looks pretty good, although he took it to a local car wash a couple times :nono and has some light swirls.

Enjoy! :wavey

Gorgeous combo on that color. But enough with those palm tree reflections I am becoming obscenely jealous.

BTW, EX looks great on that color.

Excellent Job, Palm trees are making me jealous too..lol

I just recieved RMG today, and plan to use it this weekend, how long did you work it for, what speed?.... Am I right in assuming work it the same as VM?

That looks great. I love that color. Have you tried the Klasse Twins yet? I loved how they looked on my Sonic Blue Cobra.

MS22 - thanks. "But enough with those palm tree reflections I am becoming obscenely jealous." :lol sorry i can't help it, my next door neighbor has a palm tree in their front yard, and it makes for such beautiful pictures. :) and yeah, i tried EX w/carnauba. it's nice. and it's even nicer topped with Natty's. :xyxthumbs

Richt - Thanks!

PK - :) yeah, i worked it just like VM: not too much on the finishing pad; speed about 4; i only did one pass, enough to cover a section, and moved the PC quite quickly. i'm wondering if that is the right way though. :nixweiss

Blacksunshine - thanks. yeah, i have the klasse twins. i think i tried just AIO and didn't like it. i think because it looked kinda "flat" to me. maybe if my Blue had metallics like your Sonic Blue, it would've turned out better. but who knows, i might try the Klasse Twins just for fun. :p

andriver - thanks. :)

I'm not a huge fan of the previous model (<05) Mustangs, but I've liked seeing yours and the different combo's you've been using. Looks awesome

Car looks great as usual :).

I don't think I haven't liked a combo on your car, but the EX/Natty's has always been partial to me.

Thanks everyone! :)

Mongoose - heh heh that's cool. i'll say this: the '05 stang is nice, but the interior could be better. all black looks real cheap to me. i think my Mach1's interior does a much better job of capturing the feel of the original stang. and well, i've been with this platform for about 10 years now, most of them in a 1989 5.0, so my Mach1 fits me like a glove. plus the Shaker is just so cool! :D

Sean - yeah, the EX + Natty's combo was a nice one. i think that was one combo i had on my Mach1 for the longest period of time. :D maybe i'll revisit it in the near future after i tried the RMG out more with different products.

It was such a nice day that I just had to leave work. :D Nah, today was a kinda slow day so I took the rest of the day off. Anyways, I got some pictures of my Mach1 in the sun.

And more palm trees ;) Also shows what kind of day it is here in Hawaii.

Nice work, Reid! The paint looks very deep for a lighter shade of blue. :)

With RMG, I use a blue Propel pad, which seems between a Meguiars finishing and polishing pad in aggressiveness and I set the speed on 5 and make 3-4 slow passes using moderate pressure. It sort of disappears on the last pass. It also takes very little product once the pad is primed.

Have you tried NXT Paste on your paint? The liquid looks really good on blues and the paste is definitely more user friendly since it hazes very quickly. Topped with Natty's or #16 and I think it would really look good. Of course, I really can't argue with the combos you've tried previously since your paint always looks terrific!

thanks Scott! :)

i think i have to try the RMG again using the technique you mentioned. i probably applied too quickly with little pressure, and didn't work it in to the paint. :o

and no, i haven't tried NXT paste yet, something else i can try! :D

You know, hirosh, the first pic may look washed out to you because of the bright day, but what caught my eye was your front emblem glowing blue... cool effect! :D

thank paul.

92MX83 - thanks for pointing that out. i never noticed it before, i was too focused on the sunlight washing out everything. but now the mustang emblem looks cool. thanks again! :xyxthumbs
