Despite recovering from a cold, I decided to try out a couple new products I got: Menzerna's FMJ and 4 Star UPP. Typical Autopian of detailing even though I'm still a little sick?
Since my Mach1 was sitting in the garage since Thursday, I just started off with a polish. Out came my PC, Poorboy's SSR 2.5, and a LC white polishing pad.
After the polishing, I thought about which new sealant I should try, the 4 Star Ultimate Paint Protector or Menzerna's Full Molecular Jacket. In the name of Autopia, why not try both, right ?!?!?
So, the 4 Star UPP was applied to the passenger side of the car. I didn't have the instructions for this product as I got this as a sample from Ranney (thanks Ranney!). But I checked Autopia for some instructions and I found that I could apply it and let it sit for about 30-45 minutes. So after applying the UPP, I applied the FMJ to the driver side of the car. I followed the instructions on the bottle of applying to one panel, and then removing it after it hazed. I used PakShak's Ultra-Plush MF Towel for removal, and it was very easy removing both.
Initial impressions was that both FMJ and UPP are very slick, well, the slickest product I have used so far (EX-P, EX w/carnauba, NXT, Natty's Wax, Megs #16, Klasse Twins). It was hard to tell appearance wise as the I had finished at night and the car was under some florescent bulbs.
The next day (today), I followed up with another coat of each sealant. Again, both were easy to apply and remove, although I found out that if FMJ is applied too thickly, it'll take a few more wipes to remove, sorta like how EX-P is when applied too thickly. Again, both felt super slick. And I was able to pull the car out into the sunlight to take a few pictures, although not enough as my mom came home so I had to pull my car back into the garage.
In the sunlight, both looked the same, I couldn't tell any difference. I guess the durability of each will be the final deciding factor.
Another thing about this detail was that I tried using my PC to apply some AIO to my wheels. WOW. I recommend this to anyone who can do this to their wheels.
Anyways, enough talking, time for the pictures. Enjoy! :wavey
