With this past weekend being a 3-day weekend, I decided to detail my Mach1. Here's the process:

Wash with Meguiar's Gold Class car wash shampoo

Polished with Poorboy's SSR 2 (PC w/ cutting pad)

Spot polished with Poorboy's SSR 2.5 (PC w/ cutting pad)

Polished with Poorboy's SSR 1 when needed to remove any light hazing (PC w/ polishing pad)

Glazed with Clearkote's Vanilla Moose (PC w/finishing pad) the entire body, windows (except the front), window trim, headlights

Topped with Poorboy's EX w/caranuba x2, approximately 24 hours between coats.

Tires - NXT Protectant

Rims - NXT Tech Wax on one side, Poorboy's EX-P on other side (a little experiment :D)

Textured plastic trim & shaker scoop - Poorboy's Trim Restorer

Anyway, onto the pictures! :D

Here's my Mach1 with just one coat of EX w/caranuba

Here's it with two coats of EX

This was how the weather was like for most of the weekend and when I was taking these pictures (lucky I live Hawaii :D)

As expected, it rained that night when I was at my friend's house BBQing. At least the drive home was long enough that I could "air dry" it. ;) So part of my Labor Day was spent laboring :D and using Poorboy's Spray & Wipe to clean any waterspots.

This is from today after work, in the afternoon, after S&Wing it again since it got a little dirty at work.

I'm quite happy with this combo, it gives me the same look as VM/EX-P x2/CMW. I'm thinking of adding another coat of EX w/caranuba, and then maybe topping it off with Natty's. :D

Hirosh,

Looks Great. Nice Stang. Just have to enjoy those palm tree reflections and all that sun in Hawaii. just not used to that here in NJ. Best of luck with the Mach.

Later, 04MysticCobra.

Question.... What do you do about the flat black stripe decal going down the centre of the hood? my friend's got a black mach1 and we're assuming that it should be masked off.

thanks for all the compliments! :D

04MysticCobra - thanks! i'm quite lucky my neighbor has a palm tree, it makes for some nice reflections. ;) but Hawaii's weather can be a little weird where different parts of the island will have different weather conditions, like sunny in one area yet raining in the area right next door.

Duckman - for any of the stripes (hood and sides) i mask them off with blue painter's tape when i'm doing my polishing. but when i glaze with the PC and the finishing pad, i don't have them taped off and they've been okay so far, no riped or damaged stripes.

Sean - thanks!

comparing the EX w/caranuba to EX-P, i think they both smell great :D, both have a nice shine, but the EX w/caranuba gives this blue more depth and wetness. here is a previous detail i did showing the difference between just EX-Px2 and EX-Px2 topped w/CMWx2 (which i think is similar to EX w/caranuba in terms of looks).

interestingly enough, i tried EX-P on my dark red/burgundy Mustang, and it looked pretty deep and wet. so i guess if the paint is already a nice, deep, rich color, EX-P or EX w/caranuba would work well. if not, EX w/caranuba probably be the better way to go. maybe i'll try doing a comparison of the two.

i might try another coat of EX, and then top it off with Natty's to see what that does. :p

Sure looks nice. I will do another layer of EX this weekend and maybe another next weekend or top with S100. Or I might do 2 more layers of EX and top with S100.:up
