Weatherstripping and black trim

My black trim around the cowl and wiper arms is stained with wax that I cannot get off with rubbing alcohol...what should I try on here? Someone told me to use Armorall cleaner spray...

My weatherstripping is sort of faded, and I want to make it look good again. I have 303 Aerospace protectant but when it gets on my paint it pisses me off because it's a ***** to get off due to the slickness. Any recommendations?

TIA

-Matt

You could try this wax blaster .

I also use 303 on my weather stripping, but I put it in a smaller spray bottle, and spray it on a foam pad and use that to applly. That might help you keep it off of your paint.

Apply the 303 with foam paint brush. I purchased an assortment from Walmart for a few dollars. I spray the 303 into the lid of a spray can and use that to dip/load the foam brush.

Matt get a Pink Pearl school eraser .. rub it and it will remove the wax .. then add your fav dressing.

Best thing I've found for removing and treating plastic and trim is Meguiars Gold Class Trim Detailer

Unfortunately, it's not carried in many of the stores that I usually visit. If you don't mind waiting for delivery from an online order, it's well worth it. Cleans great, shines great and lasts long. Doesn't run, streak, or attract dust.

Others say you can use peanut butter to remove wax from trim. Apparently it works great, but I've never tried it.

Problem is, the wax is in cracks that I cannot get to with an eraser....let me see if I can find a pic.

......

Ok found one.

Glad it worked for you Matt .. Always works for me ... Just goes to prove you don't always have to use an expensive boutique product to do a simple job.

I actually had my wiper cowl painted and its soo much more of a breeze to take care of. You should think about doing it. It's an inexpensive mod that keeps the flow of paint going.

BTW: I am having the black buttons painted. I just forgot to get them to my body guy when I had it painted.

As far as the weatherstripping, I am planning on doing a tutorial on re-vamping them for good. It involved sanding and clearcoating, but came out better than new. Don't currently have a pic, but stay tuned for the write-up in the next month.

Looks pretty good, but my car has sort of a black and green theme, so if anything, I would have it painted black. Great idea!
