Waxing w/ Collinite 476 in freezing temps. Should I do it?

So I did a lot of reading here and ended up ordering Collinite 476 wax, since I drive my Porsche Cayman S in all weather.

I am going this weekend to see the in-laws. They have a garage (I only have deeded spots), though not heated, it should be not too bad.

Here is the question, I looked at the forecast and it will be like 25F there this weekend. Washing the car is not a problem, because there is a coin car wash about 1/4 mile away that is enclosed and somewhat heated. I am planning on applying wax with my Porter Cable orbital with the gray glaze pad. Any tips (if it will work at all) on how to apply wax in the cold weather? I had the car for about a month, so the wax job dealer did is not holding up well, would like to put on something better, since Cayman is my Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday car, no matter what is the weather. I am not sure when I will have next opportunity to wax, it may be another month or two before I go back there.

Suggestions? Comments? Flames? :grinno:

The washing part will be done at a car wash. Waxing part will done in the unheated garage.

Looked at the forecast and they say it will be about 20F there.

The garage will be warmer than 20 degrees since it's enclosed, but probably not much better than freezing. I don't think that will be a problem, though, just apply the 476 SPARINGLY with a polishing or finishing pad. I would remove by hand but thats just me. My experience with coin washers, though, is that they don't do a very good job and nearly never remove all of the dirt so be sure your Caymen is perfectly clean before applying a PC to the paint.

I will be "sneaking" a bucket with sponge to the car wash, so I expect to get it very clean.

The car is black, so I am very aware what swirls can do.

The problem im having with this is the coin op will not clean your paint very well at all. Even if you could get it perfectly clean the drive home will make it dirty again (even if its only 1/4 mile away). The other problem im having is are you going to clay? im assuming its never been done, I personally wont wax/seal a vehicle without claying first, but that is just me.

It doesnt get down that cold here in GA, but even when it is cold.....I dont have much problem waxing a car. I pull it in the garage and close the door. The heat generated by my work lights seems to warm the garage a little bit. They do throw some heat. I have no experience with Collinite, but unless the instructions say specifically not to wax in cold temps, I would assume you'll be ok. Try one panel first before you coat the whole car.
