Waxing too often?

Ok. I was looking at getting a Rallye Red Si and I want to keep the reflection on that thing immaculate. Is it too much to do a detail every month?

BTW, whats a good wax for red?

Depends on what you mean by detail...a fresh coat of wax and chrome polish, absolutely not, a month is plenty! If you are talking buffing your car, it is my opinion that every month would be excessive...save your clearcoat...but i know you will get different opinions, that is just mine..

I would do a detail once a month. But like said abouve, I wouldn't buff once a month. You will have no clear coat left on your car.

He wouldn't be hurting his cc if he were to use his buffer to lightly clean and polish his car. It'd be a different story if he were to use polishes with abrasives in them but with finishing polishes such as vanilla moose, the abrasives are so light that Scottwax uses them often and has shown to have no detrimental effects on the clearcoat.

FWIW, I remember mentioning on the old board that i've clayed my car once a month and people said that its too much. Now with new technology thats brought us clays from brands like those from Sonus and Pinnacle, spot claying or even going over the whole car is possible w/o inducing damage to the paint surface....go figure.

Never such a thing as waxing too much. I usually do a couple coats of 476 or 845 as a base then up keep it with Prima Banana Gloss :)

Works great for me haha

Even if it was safe on the cc, I wouldn't find time to do a full detail every month. When it becomes a chore, it's no fun anymore...

Victoria Concours Red Wax! Ah how I have fallen in LOVE with Victoria! :2thumbs:

if you buff once a month with a mild polish, you'll be fine. it shouldn't be needed if you watch your washing/drying technique...

waxing once a month is fine whoever said waxing too much equals micromarring is stupider than a one legged waitress at the ihop

I'm going to assume you're talking about me.

I stated that anytime you touch your paint there is the potential for marring, which is true. Unless you have a magic wax that is sprayed on, requires no spreading and removes itself...the potential exists. The application requires some kind of "applicator." The principal is the same reason people buy leaf blowers to dry their cars instead of the MF's so many of us trust.
