No, and beading isn't perfect. Just 'cause there is some wax on the car which causes beading, doesn't mean there is much or any protection.
Shinyness is a test, I suppose.
Either trust the wax or don't trust it an wax more often.
I suppose slickness could be used as an indicator. I look at slickness, beading, and the general appearance when deciding it's time to apply another coat of wax/sealant.
You could also go by gauging how "well" dirt & debris stick to the finish of the vehicle (i.e. like during/after a wash). Another good tip might be that when your MF gets "grabby" when QDing, your LSP might be weak.
Meguiars says to grab a terry towel and pinch between your index and thumb. Hold it onto the finsih and twist a little. If it sqeeks, there is little to no wax left...
I got that tip a long time ago when calling their service reps on some issues I was having with their NXT.
