Wax stain test!!!

Lately I have seen alot of threads on here about removing wax stains from trim of a car. I got bored today and felt like doing a little test.

First, I found some pretty common household supplies that I have heard rumors of bbeing able to remove wax stains. I found Peanut Butter (creamy Jif) Art Eraser, and WD-40.

Second, I went out to the test vehicle (97 f-150) and looked on it. found trim above bed had some pretty good stains on it. I then took tape and taped off sections for the test.

This is beofre the tape.

crud. The other 5 pictures didn't turn out good.:( too much glare off the plastic. Just to sum it up, with a little time they all worked. The art gum eraser took a little time, and left shavings all over the side of my truck.

The WD-40 went everywehre, but go the job done.

The PB. was good. Took a couple coats, but it came off. Didn't go everywhere, and nothing left on the side of my trruck.

So IMO hte PB was the best. took 10 mins to apply, let sit, and remove all around the bed of my truck. Pretty easy, and I will never run out.

Sorry most of thje pics didn't turn out.

oo yeah the final one did turn out.

I have no clue what the white mark is. It is not on my truck right now, so it must have happened in devolping.

please explain th eapplicationmrethod used for the PB.

do you put it on like wax? pastes it on with a spoon? rub on the stain until gone?

I am confused about this PB stuff.

thnx

Great test. I have a Ford F150 also and have a tough time with stains on my bed rail. Have yet to try PB but plan on it in the future. Nice job...:xyxthumbs

lol Idrops, I never had thought of that. Might try it. :D

I used some jif creamy. just right out of the pantry. Pretty much any will work. The working ingredient is the oil. I would use peanut oil, but it wod run all down theidee of the truck. The peanut butter is like a paste, so it stays where you put it.

KenLee, just get a large glob (for large job) and place it on a paper plate, or somthing disposable. When you see a wax stain, just coat the tip of your finger with Pb and rub it on. Don't rub it in. Just on. The peanut oil will soak into the wax, and lift it. after about 2 mins, just rub the Pb off with a towel. Nothin major. Not alot of money spent.

Ric, last time I did this the stains were gone. That was in the winter, with alost freezing weather. If these don't stay off i'll be doing a plastic cleaner test. If that doesn't work then a trip to the junkyard for bed rails will be instore.
