I have some mother 3 step (step#2) polish would i achieved a nice finish by laying this on my car then folowed by cargroom#24 carnauba paste wax!

I have also heard something about laying carnauba wax over polymer wax for a better shine!

does turtle wax superhard shell and turtle wax ultragloss platinum serie count as polymer wax ?

I also have some zymöl i can use or mother paste wax but i think they are somewhat like cleaner wax!

suggest me something to get a good shine with these products and a way to do it, i just seem to never get the dept, shine and smoothness i want!

I would say if you want a deep, glossy smooth shine the way your describing, I would ditch the over the counter products and check out some of our sponsors here. Ever since I switched from auto parts store waxs and polishes, to using the professional / specialty polishes and waxes you can find on this site, I have never gone back and I regret not using these products sooner.

If you just want to use the products you stated above, then wash your car with a good car wash soap, clay bar it, polish, then wax. I did top my polymer polish (Zaino) with a carnuba wax, and it looks great.

sunstealth,

First, :welcome

What color is your vehicle?
What condition is the paint in?
Is the vehicle a daily driver?
Garage kept?
Do you want to pick up the products locally?
How much money do you want to spend?
How much effort do you want to put into the shine?
Do you have a PC?

otc combo

meguiars colorx
mothers synwax
turtle wax ultra gloss (make sure to defiantely use their ds after washings)

i dont know exactly ho long it will last, because that seems to be the deal with SOME over the counter waxes, but it should give u a good month before having to re-apply turtle wax UG 2 times and then having to do it again.

good over the counter products used in a good combination can be better than any combo u can purchase online.

name a type of product and ive got a good answer for which product u can get otc. its just the fact that we know the product more when it comes form our sponsers since memebers here have tried them and given reviews.

I completely disagree that you can't get a good shine from OTC products. I understand better products might make the job a little easier, but a lot of the shine comes from the prep work & your process. Don't discount products just because you can get the OTC. As Joyride said, ColorX is a good polish you can get OTC and I have seen some very good results, both in person and online, from the Mother's and Meg's three step system. They won't do much for removing marring, but there's other things you can get for that. The best advice I can give you is to read up on the process here. There's a lot of valuable information on DC.

only one thing i really havent found over the counter. SWIRL REMOVERS. im talking about compounds/polishes like the ssr line or something along the lnes of dacp or speed glaze thats pc friendly. only thing i can think of thats really goof for swirls is scratchx but thats for hand use only. gums up bad on the pc.

I know around here we have O'Reilley's Auto Parts that can get ya any Meg's product you need. A lot of them they already have sitting on the shelf, so it's pretty convenient. I don't know if they're a national chain or anything, but they bought out a local auto parts store chain. If you think you an't find it locally, it's always a good idea to ask if they can order it for you.

Jared's right...BUT..you won't find the Meg's Professional stuff where the wax and detail supplies are normally displayed. O'Reilley's here in the Kansas City metro area displays the Meg's Pro stuff where the body work products are found (Bondo, sanding equip, etc). It took me a couple of visits to find what I was looking for and now that I know, it's pretty much the same in any O'Reilleys I go to here.

What color is your vehicle? cloisonne blue metallic
What condition is the paint in? the paint is new (car been painted april 2004)
Is the vehicle a daily driver?yep it is
Garage kept? winter only
Do you want to pick up the products locally?yes (plus i live in québec/canada)
How much money do you want to spend? as off right now none my account is already in the minus!
How much effort do you want to put into the shine?I dont care how much effort i put in it as long as it looks good
Do you have a PC?no

also normally I wax my car evry 2 weks (summer time)

First, Meguiar's ColorX and follow it with Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax.
Quick and easy. Works good with hand application, less than $25 total cost, and should look good.
If you are strapped for cash, the ColorX will do a pretty good job by itself. You could see how that looks until you can buy some NXT Tech Wax.

Of the products you have, the Mother's Paste Cleaner Wax is the only one I have used. It does a pretty good job by itself.

Why don't you try some of the products you have on different parts of the car and see how they compare?

Once you get more involved with the detailing thing, you can move to some different/better(?) products.

LOL......... this may be a bad place for you to hang out if that is the case.

Anyhow, you've already received some good advice.

ColorX & NXT
Meguiar's Deep Crystal System (steps 1, 2 and 3)
Mothers' new Synwax (and some cleaner/polish like ColorX before the Synwax)

Hope this helps.

Were did you find the Cargroom wax. I havent that in years.

In the Chicago area in the 1960s if you seen a very shiny car 9 out 10 times it was done with a Car Groom product. Back then they called it the cosmetic for cars.It was made in Chicago on Archer Ave. The company was sold to U.S. Plastics and moved out east . I wonder if the formuler is still the same.

I have got nice results from Meg's deep crystal system (3 step)
I haven't tried it but have heard that the mothers 3 step isn't bad either.

If you can afford to pick up some clay that wouldn't hurt either.

If you're happy with the carnuba that you have then you only have to pickup 2 of the 3 steps leaveing you a few dollars for clay or a swirl remover :)

You can check Meg's website for places close to you that carry thier professional line

Good luck

if you're happy with the mothers....i would pick up the deep crystal step 2 and throw that in before the mothers glaze and sealant(mothers step 2)....I think you would be surprised at the difference....of course you MUST clay first of all.

ok well i have the whole mothers 3 steps and my paint is only a year old maybe the pre wax cleaner would help instead of the clay!!

and im getting my car repainted before summer! (rust comming back)
