what applicators should i use with the zaino?

As far as applying Zaino goes, use a foam pad lightly misted with Z-6. I know it's highly recommended to use the Z-7 carwash with the Zaino system, you might want to add that in to your list! Go to the Abay forum, there is a group buy going on: buy 4 products and get free z-7. You can use the Z-7 as lubricant for the clay (z-18? dunno) as well.

Why are you using both 3M SMR #3900<strong class='bbc'>9[/b] and Meguiar's #<strong class='bbc'>9[/b]? These products are said to be comparable, but I haven't tried either by machine.

Use Z5 before Z2. If you have ZFX, you can do several layers of Z in one day. I like to use the PC with the grey pad to apply the Z. You should be able to do a full coat with 1/2 oz. Use Z6 between coats of Z5 or Z2.

Ive got a new customer who just bought a brand new black 4 runner and already had the teflon applied by the dealership just a couple weeks ago .

He wants me to take care of his vehicle on a regular basis and will let me do anything I recommend( NICE!) anyway I suggested we do regular waxing every 3 months .

My 2 concerns are anytime Ive waxed over teflon it tends to streak. Does anyone have a wax they like that doesnt streak when used over teflon?

Also Im concerned the wax wont stick properly to the teflon ?Is that an issue? I will use a mild claybar first as I dont want to take the teflon off either.

I havent had this issue come about very frequently as most people with the teflon just want me to wash their car and then I usually end up telling them there is no longer any teflon left , go back to your rip off dealership and have them re apply it LOL

Im so happy he is letting me take care of his new vehicle :Dancing Dot:Thanks for any help or suggestions!

that Teflon stuff is crap IMO, you have to heat Teflon to 350 F (i think) for it to really stick just my 0.02

I know Ive read that many times too .(that teflon wont stick)

Im not against teflon , they just dont do whats promised and are usually a ripp off for the amount charged.

Interesting because when ive had cars with teflon on them before they always felt very slick and Ive had streaking troubles using wax on top of.

But when I used a finish caranuba this time it went on and off beautifully without any problems. Also when i first arrived I took one look at the truck in the sunlight before I even washed it and told my customer his new black paint was already swirled out from the dealership . They sold the teflon claiming it would prevent swirls.

The vehicle beaded up but honestly didnt feel like anything was on it,no slickness at all and they had just done it a few weeks ago.

I really wish my customers would consult me before buying these teflon coatings !

At least your customer is listening to you. I tried to explain why that Simonize treatment the BMW dealer sold my neighbor was only marginal and I could give him a much better finish on his red 328. Nope, he's happy with the dealer, ignorance is bliss!

They may be applying a product with teflon but the teflon isn't doing anything for the protection (in fact it was wiped away when the product was buffed off). Teflon has to be heated to a very high tempature for it to stick to anything.

The reason you get streaking is the product is sometime of sealant that has a lot of oil or silicone. I would clay (hopefully that removes the stuff), and treat accordingly. To be extra sure Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish will remove the 'teflon' and leave surface ready to accept your wax/sealant fully.

The good o' Teflon stuff again, been around many yrs and still here. Now go try to cook some eggs and bacon!:D

Yes ,he was beleiving me over the dealership . I gave him the truth as I see it about teflon jobs Ive seen and how they dont last . But I also didnt want to make him feel totally ripped off either.

Plus when I showed him the swirls and gave him the option of going back to the dealership he knew I wasnt just trying to get his business and was looking out for him and his best interest

Could it be some people think the more money they spend they are getting a better product ?

My other customer who got the lifetime cilajet sealant has already called me to complain his new BMW is deeply swirled after only a couple months , 900 dollars later. Hes so disgusted he wont bring it back to them and wants me to start taking care of it again.

Live and learn!

Teflon has to be heated to a very high tempature for it to stick to anything.Ive heard similar things about teflon but I do have to say Ive tested a few teflon sealants and it is very sticky stuff and hard to get off by hand , you really need a machine to get it off. Unless its not the teflon thats sticking and something else they put in it.The reason you get streaking is the product is sometime of sealant that has a lot of oil or silicone. makes sense! I would clay (hopefully that removes the stuff), and treat accordingly.maybe the clay I used in the past wasnt agrressive enough To be extra sure Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish will remove the 'teflon' and leave surface ready to accept your wax/sealant fully.

Thanks Tod ,I appreciate the help! I didnt want to take off his teflon he just spent a few hundred dollars on ! But for future reference this is good to know!
