Can it be too much if i wax my car everytime i wash it ? which is once a week?

I usually wax parts of the car after washing it (hood, trunk)then wax the doors fenders,etc.. next wash, so i dont actually wax ever part every week, basically every part , every 2 weeks.

I use mothers carnuba pure wax.

the paint is always pretty damn clean and buttery smooth, but can the over waxing hurt ? I wouldnt think so ?:cooleek:

Well, in my honest opinion, if you are using mothers nuba there really isn't such thing as over waxing unless you are waxing EVERY day. Because with mothers/meguiars, the durablility blows, so when ever you wash your vehicle you are taking away most of the wax with the soap and mitt.

Stay away from OTC products that can be found in wal-mart, etc... I recommend either duragloss, zaino, or Klearcote products. Zaino will last a good 3 months. Now, if you enjoy waxing every week, get some Duragloss Aquawax, it comes in a spray bottle and you use it just like a quik-detailer. I will outlast mothers and will looks just as good if not better.

The funny thing is that we all get worked up over marring and paint in poor condition, but we still love to touch our paint as much as we can.

IMO, ANYTIME you touch the paint, you're running the risk of inducing marring. All it takes is a missed wash spot or something on your applicator pad and your wax application turns into a swirl application.

While Mothers might not be the most durable wax available, it certaintly lasts longer than a week or two. Weekly is absolutely unnecessary and excessive, bi weekly is on the verge.

But if you must wax that often, I highly recommend some kind of spray wax that can be used during your drying process.

great, now i find out the mothers doesnt last long, RIGHT AFTER I BUY IT. But it seems to last for at least 2 weeks or more, because the car stay shiny and beads water pretty good.

So my next question is:

what is a good carnauba wax besides mothers ? I think mothers works pretty damn good.:think2

If you like it stay with it. For OTC products I think Megs have better products.

If you wax that often and want to keep your paint good looking Zymol's Cleaner Wax and Meguairs NXT are inexpensive products that work well enough.

I agree, a good spray wax would work out great for someone that wants to wax every wash. :xyxthumbs

For every week a spray wax would be a good compromise. Now if you were thinking of doing something like Collonite 476 every week I think it would be a waste but that's just me.

Everyone's saying that spray wax is better than conventional wax, but nobody is saying why? Waxing your car every time you wash it is just fine as long as you wash it and apply the wax properly. There's nothing like washing a freshly waxed finish. It's not only easier to wash, but easier to re-wax.

I wax just about every time I wash. I use nuba with no cleaners Souvern Natties blue worlds best wax 50/50 ect Here's what I love when the car is dirty you can take a hose and rinse it down for about 5 minutes and then take a ww and dry it off. Car looks spotless with a shine yes no soap and no scratches

David, I was wondering the same thing. I think maybe because it's easier and one touches the paint a bit less with it... ??

Mothers Reflections still is better than Gold Class or NXT 2.0. Mothers Carnuaba will last (bead/shine) for at least 6 weeks but that depends on your definition of last. It will bead longer but you usually are after the looks too.

If somebody likes what they're doing then OK...cool by me. I myself would just *hate* to wax that often (BTDT, took up too much of my time) but that's just me. I *can* appreciate that, well...if you want your car to always look "just waxed" after a wash, then always wax it after a wash :D

One thing I would watch out for is build up and sealed-under-wax dirt. After a few months of weekly waxing, I wouldn't be surprised if a claying/paint cleaning revealed a fair bit of dirt bonded to the paint.

I have heard from the pros that using DG Aquawax more often than once a month can mute the paint.

If that's true then it also would be true for other spray sealants, but spray carnauba waxes should be fine to be used every week.

If you just enjoy waxing, as I do.. and a spray wax just doesn't "feel" :nixweiss the same, maybe a wax like S100, would be more to your liking.
