Wax as you dry....and water

I got a chance to do some experimenting this weekend. After a full wash-clay-MG, then Insulator Wax treatment of my car, I kept seeing the bottle of Wax as you Dry sitting in my supply box. I took a little , tiny spray bottle..filled about 1/4 with WAYD, and added 3/4 of water...shook well and misted on the surface...wiped with a MF...Nice!!! Like a QD, but added some definite shine to the surface. The other interesting point..It easily removes wax-smear...you know when you remove wax, and get that minor mearing of the oils...this completely removes that and leaves a very slick..shiny surface. I'll have to keep playing with this..maybe there's a better mix ratio.:bounce

Thanks for the tip! I have a sample of WAUD I got as a promotion for Eagle One products. I'll have to try it as a QD!

I too find 3:1 the ideal ratio. Any stronger and I have to watch for streaking (especially on the darker cars.)

With this mix ratio, WAUD is now a $6/gallon QD. :D

At this price, it's now my second favorite QD! :up

I'm going to have to try this. I only have a little bit left in my bottle!

The next bottle I buy I will divide up my next bottle: one for dry cars and one for drying. :)

After using WAUD, what can you apply over that? I like WAUD also, but thought that once I apply it, I either need to strip it to apply another coat of sealant, or I can only layer with a carnuba wax as WAUD feels like a canuba.

I think that theory is still untested.

Remember, Zaino Z6 is also very slick and you can apply Z2 right over it.

Yeah...what really impressed me was it's cleaning abaility. It seems to remove the oils, but make the finish shinier....more so than just a QD. Very nice trick..I was impressed. Even had to show my wife...for some reason , she doesn't share my enthusiasm.

kpounds, thanks for the link to the rebate. What's the deal with the Valvoline rebates? Is it open to everyone? Seems like it isn't advertised on the website, and when a friend inquired about a previous rebate offer on oil, the response he received was that the rebate offers are solicited to a select group of customers. Hope they honor my submission.

Ben54,

The rebates are limited in quantity, a week or so ago they had synthetic oil free after rebate, but once they reach their allotment they pull the offer.

Ben54,

I'm pretty sure they're open to anyone. Another autopian had posted it earlier and I also visit different deal boards as well. This one you fill out and print. I would think once you have your name & address printed up on their form, you should get your rebate as long as you mail it in on time. I also got in on their Maxlife oil rebate and received it in about 4-5 weeks. Valvoline seems pretty quick with the rebates.

Thanks, I did take advantage of the synthetic and the Maxlife rebates, but have yet to receive the $$$$, so I was unsure if I needed to be on some special mailing list.

Actually, my wife bought it at Costco for me.

(I think she got tired of me spending $$$ at CMA/pinnacle. :o )

Yes, for some reason, this product works well on glass too.

Too many QD, too few cars...
