I operate a mobile detailing service in Southern California. I am looking for some recommendations on waterless car washing products that work without scratching the vehicle if there is such a thing? I have previewed a short video clip from Optimum Polymer Technologies. They make a product called "No Rinse Wash & Shine" Has anyone had any expieriense with this product or can you recommend other products that work.

Thank you,

Greg

Well, I hate to be one of those guys that says "do a search", but there are hundreds of Optimum No Rinse Wash and Shine threads. We refer to it here as "ONR". Before ONR, a similar product "QEW" (ProtectAll Quick and Easy Wash) was popular. A search on either of those terms should yield you hundreds of threads.

Edit: here's 315 with ONR in the title: http://www.autopia.org/forum/search.php?searchid=3546632

and 286 with QEW in the title: http://www.autopia.org/forum/search.php?searchid=3546635

You are right to mention a search but to be honest you shouldn`t really have to, ONR is discussed on practically every page. :)

I use ONR quite frequently and I LOVE the stuff. Works outstanding of the car is not "mudded up." I really like using to get ready at a car show after driving there. I also use it on my daily driver in the winter.

It's all in the technique, don't sweat it. ;) Any product you use should be ok, just learn by practicing over and over.

Thank you for the links. I'm new to this site. Just learning to navigate around and I am pleased to see that others respond to help each other out. Good stuff!

was peaking at the autopia store and noticed they carry this now, yet another option of the many choices to choose from...

Price and smell goes to Ultima..both clean about the same. I give OOC the nod for gloss

ONR is MUCH cheaper than Ultima. It only takes me 2 gallons in my wash bucket to wash a car. For ONR buying by the gallon for $40 I can do 128 cars. That comes out to $.31 a car. If it's the same for Ultima at $21 for 16oz that's only 24 cars for $21. That's $.87 a car. That's almost 3x the cost per car.

As a QD $40 of ONR makes 16 gallons($2.5 per gallon). For $21 of Ultima you get <3 gallons of QD($7 per gallon).

It's such a big difference I am sitting here wondering if I did the math wrong.

I personally LOVE ONR. I have used a couple of other poly based washes/QD's and for the cost you can't beat ONR. Have never used OOC so I will give it a try.

AND....I just got a gallon of ONR for $30 so the cost goes down even more. $.23 a car for a wash.....$1.88 a gallon of QD.

Sorry for all the math but this is the professional detailer forum so cost is very important to most of us. If I get to where I want to be $.56 a car is a LARGE chunk of profit.

Bobarell your math is wrong though, Ultima Waterless wash concentrate 16oz is 18.99 most places. 16 oz of concentrate makes 5.5 gallons. It works out to be $3.45 per gallon of waterless wash with Ultima. I feel like it works much much better than ONR QD so the higher price is justified for me, especially considering that I don't detail for money very often, and just use products on my own vehicles.

I think while ONR is not waterless, it cannot be beat. For professional use, especially on maintanence vehicle you will have leftover onr solution, if you use the 2 bucket method.

I can use 2 bucket method - 2 gallon onr - 2 gallon rinse, and still have 1 gallon CLEAN onr left over - and cars are cleaned to prep for polishing and correction so its full cleaning. using rinsing method stretch ONR capabilities double. this means even cheaper for washing.
