Water Filter my set up.

I know people have asked about this so I thought I would share my set up.

Garden Hose Filters Then a GH104 Filter Bracket with clear exterior Cart. holders.

I use the sediment filter a FC108 and a FC024 Cartridge for water softening.

A good set up at a good price.

If the water softening filter you're currently using (I have two of those exact filters) start to leave white spots on your car (mine did), you might want to try an FC006 filter from this page: Filter Cartridge Menu You can't use rock salt to replenish this filter, as it's a true DI filter, not just a softener, but you can replace the resin with CRSpotless's bulk resin. I'm using two of the FC006 filters, and it is a *completely* spot free wash.

I have the same housing from Peerless, with a softener cartridge that can be recharged with saly, but in my VERY hard water area it doesnt really do much. I still get terrible water spotting. Going to move to ONR in the hope that it cuts down the risk of spotting...

Bigpikle, I had the same problem with their "soft water" filters. That's why I went with two of their DI filters instead. I now get totally spot free, completely DI'd water. Makes good ONR water, too. :)

So do you think that this system would be good enough for me to blast down my car once a day with it and not dry it at all?

I am looking to try to replace QDing with something that involves less marring, so being able to rinse off light dust etc without drying would be ideal and to me the CR in CR-Spotless stands for Complete Ripoff, their prices are insane!

Yeah, I can completely air dry my car spot free with those cartridges.

Thanks for the info superbee. I think i'll change my cartridges out to the ones you pointed out. I have city water so sediments and softning is not as important as a DI water.

Do a search for SB's thread about this. The CR seems expensive, but once you break it down, it's less than 30 cents a gallon. SB was also successful in piecing together a setup (the one that he uses) that works out to be very close in price per gallon, but has less initial outlay.

How many washes does your di filter last? di fliters are typical found after the ro membrane as part of a larger filter system.

Yeah, they are usually used to "polish" RO processed water. Most DI filters have very low capacity since they are usually only "polishing" water that is already DI'd for the most part. Both of my filters together should do about 50 gallons of water, or there abouts. My water rates at 13 grains hardness. Among the hardest in the country, so where ever you are at, you should get *at least* 50 gallons from my setup. Getting the bulk DI resin from CRSpotless will allow you to replace the resin in these filters indefinitely. Makes the cost per gallon go down *alot* compared to just always replacing the whole filter each time.

So your saying buy the 1 cubic foot resin replacement drum from CR ???

Yup. :)

It's much cheaper than replacing the whole filters. The end of the filter unscrews, so you can just dump out the old resin and refill it with the bulk resin from CRSpotless. There are some other places that sell bulk resin, but I haven't found one that sells in small quantities like one cubic foot. Most places sell 50 gal drums of it.
