Watch Those Trees at Car Shows

I show a 1959 Ford convertible to the tune of 50 shows or so a year. Yesterday while showing at a 600 car show at Rising Sun, Indiana I saw the opportunity to park for the day under some hugh old shade trees. I thought how smart I was not having to set in the sun all day and how the car and I would stay cool. Well, we stayed cool and won a nice throphy. Later at home when I went to QD the car so I could cover it I discovered the big old shade tree had deposited tree sap over every vertical surface on the old car. The hood, trunk, doors, windshield, bumpers and all other horizonal surfaces felt like little grains of sand embedded into the finish, not the smooth slick surface I'm used to.

The only good part is due to multiple coats of Zaino a little clay bar and lube and the sap comes right off. I'm claying the car now and I will apply a thin coat of Z5 and some Z6 and we'll be ready for two shows this next weekend. The moral to the story watch those $%^& TREES, some times shade isn't all its cracked up to be!

good advice.... the other problem I've seen several people who do shows encounter (as I don't do shows, just attend some) is bird crap! I can't even count the number of times I've seen guys with a bottle of QD and an MF or their choice of cleaner out wiping crap (literally) off their rides.
