Watch this and take a good look in the mirror

So now that I have super clean insides of my wheels, i have to keep them clean.

I noticed that the VW driver magazine sells a wheel brush meant for getting in on the inside of the wheel behind the rotor and stuff.

Anyone have this? How does everyone else clean the insides of their wheels? It sorta looks like a chimney sweep brush like a foot long twisted wire with bristles comeing out of it in a full cone shape.

I tried it over the weekend and I couldn't get my hand in that far so I might need that special brush.

Another thing I saw was that cheap "tape" that TOL sells (thanks pb) and I wondered if anyone's consider "taping up" the inside of their wheels before that fun winter season begins :)

Thoughts?

I reach my hands in as far as I can, and it gets them clean as far in as people can casually see, but the insides get pretty dirty......

I stick them all the way in, and move car forward as well so I can get the area's that the calipers blocked as well. Also, about every 3 months, I remove each wheel so I can get every nook and cranny clean on each wheel...doesn't take that long.

I take the wheels off every few months and clean them very well. I have Klasse on the front and back of my wheels, so now even the back cleans up no problem.:up

I have multiple brushes that I stick in them holes and swash back and forth to clean. One is cone shaped and sponge like so it gets gushy and foams real well. The other is basically a cloth wrapped around a stick.

Plus my wheels are large and have large holes in them.

so between that and the highth of my truck I can clean the back of the wheels fairly easy.I also rotate my wheels myself every other oil change and clean them all very well while they are off.I also have the rear hubs painted and re Zaino this area when I rotate.

you would not believe how dirty my wheel wells are. It looks like it was painted bumpy and brown, but after really really scrubing it with water and a brush, there is red paint back there. Yikes. I don't know if I'll ever be able to clean them out. I'm going to jack it up and see if I can really scrub them clean.

I've never cleaned the inside of my wheels... just got new tires so maybe I should.

I don't know if a bottle brush is the same thing I use, but I like to use the little gadgets with foam spaghetti on the ends of it. I think they use them for cleaning sinks, even toilets, but for $1, they do the job. I like my wheels clean, I just don't want to cut up my hand doing it.

I got tired of scraped up arms with dirty barke dust and grime on them from cleaning the wheel wells so i purchased a long utility brush from AutoInt.

Steve... I think you know my home-made "kitchen-sponge-wrapped-onto-a-wooden-chopstick-tied-together-with-a-rubberband" idea :p

Since your wheels' spokes look fairly wide, try an old sock, and stick your hands in it as far as it will reach.

but you dont believe me....all my detailing is done on the street...so i put my car up on the curb a little....like maybe...2 ft up on there....that elevates that side of the car.(WHEELS/TIRES STILL ON CAR)...then i use a little homemade brushy type thing(with one of those foam gizmos on the end)...but no chopsticks....and i get me butt under there and it all comes off....and since the Z2 is on there...its not too bad....but yes....this winter i will not be under the car getting soaked....so the chrome will have to suffer...:)

ps.....no the curb is not 5 ft high...its about 3 inches high...so i dont need jack stands Steve....but thanks for the safety concern:p :D...............I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS for anyone else...just wanted to share...

i went to the grocery store after work and looked for the foam noodle sponge thingy, but I ended up getting a lambswool duster. It's like 1 and a half feet long and has a 3/4 of a foot section of lambswool. Yeah it's a duster but on the back it says to wash with soap and I figured I could use it. It's not like lambs have never seen water and soap before (well maybe not Pinnacle Bodywork Shampoo, baaaah!!)

I can't get my hands to the back of the wheel so "whe'el" see how this goes. :D (sorry)

it's like those long magic dusters on a stick but it's lambswool.

Hmmm... curbs... thats a great idea FLONI!

I currently drive my up the car a ramp, and climb under to check for any spots I missed. Too bad our house is on a tight curve so its too dangerous to do so. Plus, a few teenagers lost control of their car on that turn and flew off the road... landed downward on their roof a few feet below.

I'll try the curb suggestion in a safe place!

that must be some curve....we have a similar one a block from me....but these guys didnt flip over..they went right into someomes living room....anyway...just be careful with the ramps....i had some but i was always nervous the car would come down...even though it seemed impossible because th car was steady...remeber im the guy who's scared of the water blade...:D ...so just be careful....i wish i had a nicer place to put the car up on jack stands(the safetest way) but it's just not feasible on the street....not for the length of time it would take to get Z2 on and dried on the wheels...

ok....so i expanded..answered...expanded...answered...and maybe fluffed up a little...but i ended with a cartwheel with this...so...;)
