washing too often?

my dad says I'm washing my car too often and that i'm gonna "wash off the paint" lol. I usually wash once a week but lately i've been washing twice a week because it has been so damn dusty. I use a chenille mit and Meguiar's GC soap and I dry with an absorber. So is it possibe to wash too often?
 
not when youre using a wash that doesnt strip wax, but you really only need to wash once a week. if its dusty, just pick up a quick detailer, and wipe off with a microfiber every day or so. only takes about 2 minutes to do the entire car as opposed to 30 minutes to wash. not only that, but i find that the qd seems to make getting dirt off much easier.
 
If your technique is good, I don't think you can wash too often. Use the two-bucket method, make sure your wash/dry media is clean, use a lubricious shampoo (which GC is) and keep a good coat of LSP on it so the dirt comes off easy. Foam gun would be even better.
 
Yeah, if your technique is good, then you can't wash too often. Everything that Setec said earlier makes all the difference. It works for me.



And, yes, I am a foam gun believer. It is a big help. With a foam gun, I don't even press down on my wool mitt (Eurow-WalMart). I just glide it.



After I rinse, I am careful with my waffle-weave towels when I dry. And, I am in good shape.



If your LSP is in good shape, that helps a lot. It makes washing far easier.
 
LOL....yo red02accordv6....thats what my neighbors say "you're gonna was the paint off that car"! I too was my car once a week but since they say that i stop (don't know why) now its every 1 1/2 - 2 week

When my car is clean....it's like me wearing a new shirt. i don't like to drive my car when it's dirty....weird, i know :D
