Washing MF towels..

Do you just wash in washing machine with water do you use liquid detergent ?

wash in cold or warm water with liquid detergent (don't need much as they are very concentrated these days) then either hang dry or put them in the dryer on the lowest heat setting with no dryer sheet...

make sure you do a double rinse & do not use any fabric softener.

only wash mf by themselves, don't mix them with regular laundry. there are several mf wash solutions on the market.

My dryer has an option for dry with air only.. That's how I dry mine

I use this with great sucess:

Micro-Restore Microfiber Detergent Concentrate



I use hot water with no fabric softener; wash MF stuff only in the same load; use a dryer on lowest heat setting with NO fabric softener sheet.

Comes out perfect every time.



But, if you have a really dirty towel you need to pretreat it with some type of APC, and/or put it aside for secondary non-paint duty like wheel barrels - when I do that (make it a secondary non-paint towel) I usually make a small cut in a corner of the towel so I can tell it is a secondary use towel.



Also, I do not wash really dirty MF towels with MF towels that are going to be used on my paint next time around.

And, like it or not, towels wear out and can pick up contaminants that may not wash out, so you have to buy new ones for paint work from time to time.

I use liquid Tide and add a APC couple of oz., and do a extra rinse.

Is it ok to wash all MF together such as glass paint and interior ones together?

I just handwash them myself in a 5 gallon bucket. I like washing them right away, especially dirty ones, and I usually don't have enough to put in the washing machine. Use cg microfiber wash since it was on sale and I wanted to give it a try. It works very well, I like how it rinses out very easily. I usually wash paint/qd in one batch, interior in another, dirty "rag" ones on separate wash, with apc (poorboys, 1z, and optimum) have all worked well. You can probably go with interior/paint together, it's just the mf towels I have for paint are nicer so I just like separated :chuckle:

The goal is to get the microfibers clean. Liquid Tide and Dawn, with a couple oz of APC works best for me. Dawn is used on birds and wildlife after a oil spill. Do a extra rinse and dry on low heat or air dry. Seperate wash real dirty towels such as ones used for tires.

Don't wash your window,tires MF's with the ones you use on the paint... Wash the ones that touch the paint by themselves.



I use to use woolite detergent but I am going to start using a dedicated MF detergent.
