Washing MF towels of different purpose together

Hey Moe!

For me, there are five purposes for my MF towels, other than merely drying my car. They are 1-windows, 2-abrasive polish removal, 3-non-abrasive polish/glaze removal, 4-wax (IW, #16) removal, and 5-QD.

I have towels dedicated for all of these uses, and that use only. Likewise, I would never wash towels that have removed abrasive polish with anything else.

In the interest of being able to wash a full load of towels, are any of the other categories compatable together in the wash? I use Sonus' Der Wunder Wasche, which works well, with no softener, of course.

My washing machine goes off-balance easily on small loads, so any chance to combine towels in the wash helps me out, since I detail only for myself, my kids, and a friend or two.

Any thoughts on this?

You could prewash some of the towels by hand. You don't have to do a perfect job, just get most of the abrasives out. That way you would minimize any possible cross-contamination when you then do all the towels together in your washing machine.

I'd wash 1, 3, 4, and 5 together. Pre-rinse the #2s, or wash them separately.

My QEW/QD MFs are washed by hand in a 5gal bucket, because then I don't have to wash those with my other MFs, or wash them separately. Plus it saves me $0.75 each time! :p
