Washing exterior after cross country road trip...

What would be a good product to use to wash my car after a cross country coast to coast road trip? Something stronger than a normal shampoo. Any suggestions?

Is it just caked with junk or why do you feel the need to use something more than car wash soap?

You can use some detergent like Dawn to wash it if it's really bad all over and then use a clay bar. However, you should do another coat of wax afterward as it will strip all of that off.

spray some bug & tar remover (in areas that need it) to loosen all the dirt, bugs, etc., and then presume your wash...

Thanks for the suggestions. It's actaully my father's car and he took the road trip and there is just a little tar, bugs ect that need to be removed. Stuff that didn't come off with a regular wash.
