washed engine. engine problems?

I don't know if my problems relate to the fact that I sprayed degreaser and water on it yesterday. As it's in gear(manual), it starts to lug at 3000 rpm and then the check engine light blinks.

It's a 97 Saturn SL2. All I did was spray degreaser on it and spray it off. Starts just fine. Just did that when I was driving.

Did you use a pressurer washer and blast water into some electrical connections? I'm not a big fan of pressure washing an engine, but it can be done if you have too.

Did you cover your electrical connections with alum. foil before you degreased? Blow out excess water with air pressure? Did you knock off a vacumn hose, wires or something? Besides that and water getting into electrical connections or components, etc., I can't think of anything to tell you. Sorry.

if you got any water in the spark plug holes then that could cause it too. That will dry out by itself eventually or you can try to soak it up by pulling the spark plug wires. I've seen that happen a lot when people spray off their engines.

Water may also be in the distributor cap run the engine and it will dry faster or take the wires and cap off and blow them out.
