This may seem like a silly question but I want to start detailing my truck myself,but the problem I have is that I have a compacted dirt driveway.How would I was the truck?Should I just be real careful not to kick up dirt ?or maybe I should jut get a plain exterior wash at a car wash and finish detailing at the house?Not sure what to do.

You shouldn't have much trouble washing and then detailing...except you'll be walking around in the mud. It will be more of a problem when the dirt is dry and kicing up dust...the wash/rinse water should keep the dust down while you're washing/waxing.

What about staking a tarp bigger than the vehicle down?

Do you have a lawn? You can park it over the grass and avoid the mess. The EPA prefers it that way too.

Lawn is good idea or mix up some concrete and make yourself a nice wash area
