There are dozens and dozens of wash mitts out there, sheep/wool, microfiber, etc etc. I'm looking for a good mitt that will last longer than a couple of months, can be cleaned easily, and if properly cleaned will not leave small scratch marks on dark colors. I'd also like to pay less than 15-20 bucks. Any suggestions or am I dreaming?????????

the best sheepskin mitt i've used for many years (still have a few) are the sm arnold. they are thumbless as well which i like, and they last a long time IME...

And since you should probably tuck in that cuff and not put the thing on your hand, just use it like a sponge, the thumb being missing is no big deal.



On the other hand, a hydrophilic sponge with a diamond pattern cut half way through might be softer on the paint is definitely cheaper.

I just picked up a Schmitt yesterday, and am excited to give it a try. Previously I had been using sheepskin wash mitts with decent results, I just wanted to give one of these Schmitts a try. Should get around to using it within the next few days, in the process of getting a foot of snow right now. Once the roads clear up in a day or two, I'll throw a wash down on my car.
 
I have the LC Utili-mit. I absolutely love this for washing with the two bucket method. It's gentle on the finishes, doesn't scratch and is easy to clean. The only downfall is that it doesn't seem to last very long....the seams that hold the mit together to make it a mit seem to come apart very easily. I have had mine for about a year and a half and after around 150 car washes, it came apart. I can still use it, but can't put my hand inside like a mit. The wheel mit, I haven't had the chance to use. I bought it, but it sits on the shelf since I use my boars hair brushes.
