I just washed my car yesterday (finally stopped being cold) but it's raining, but my car is the cleanest car that sheetbeads tons.

well anways, I wanted to know if anyone washes their cars more frequently than once a week, and why (get's dirty easily, dust, just has to? etc)

Also what time of the day do you wash and why. Do you have a like a Saturday morning schedule or are you like a thursday night kinda person. Just curious.

Thanks, Steve

Well I "used" to wash my car twice a week, considering I used it two days out of the week I thought I was doing it a favor. Little did I know, if you wash your car once a week with the soap ratio 1 ounce to one gallon of water you will soon strip your cars finish. I stripped 8 layers of Klasse off of my car...

Now I wash my car once a week with 1, sometimes 2 ounces of water for the ten gallons of water I use and it works out alot better, suds perfect, cleans as it should and it leaves the product on my car.

The bottles say they don't strip it but they do, legally they probaly have the right to claim it doesn't strip your product if it doesn't take more than 15% of it each time you wash or something. I am not too sure what the rules are for their claims but I do know it will strip your finish if used as suggested.

P.S. About my wash time... I usally take my car out late friday, I drive it home and hop on the computer, if I use it at all on Saturday she get's washed before she goes out for a little fun. This usally happens in the morning, I break night playing my computer games and I don't like to sleep on the weekends so the car wash is usally taken care of before noon time, gives me enough time to allow the sun to enjoy my car :-) Before I cover Betsy I usally take her to the spray bay to get the dust off and then toss the cover on for another week. This weekend I need to wash my cover......

Good question, as im writing this, Ive changed it several times..

My answer is, depends...

Varies week to week...When I get home I will look her over...

then I make the decision to wash her or not...

.....it probably at least once a week.

sometimes I just do the wheels,

If shes bad, i sure do wash her....

sometimes inbetween ...I spray her with FI then dry her with a Yo-Steve MF towel...

well, when its NOT raining or too cold. (which has been damn near every day since i got my car) I will probably wash it.

Usually its after school I will pull it into the middle spot of the garage, fire up the shopvac and vacuum it out then fire up the hose and proceed to flood the grage because the drains suck.

Usually after school tho.

Easily once a week in the winter time around here.

Joed:

What is the best way to clean a all cotton, custom car cover?

With it on the car or take it to a Laundro-mat? It won't fit in my washing machine.

Thanks.

Well, it rains here a lot, so I have to wash whenever I can. Usually once a week on Sat. morning, but in the summer when there is enough light out, I will sometimes do a wash in the middle of the week or Friday night.

If it rains on Sat. after a wash and it's sunny out, I'll wash again on Sunday.

Yeah, I used to use Carnuba and a natural chamois, and wondered why my wax jobs didn't last long. Now I use Meguiar's #20, an Absorber and MF's. I also only use 1 ounce of wash for around 5 gallons of water.

Car has never looked better.

Twice a week here. My truck is a daily driver so it gets dirty fast...

And that bedcover collects everything floating in the air. It really is amazing at all the stuff that is floating in the air. I come out 10mins after washing and there is a light film of dust over my bedcover... GRRRRR

Twice a week if weather permits. Almost without fail on Saturday or Sunday and then usually Tuesday or Wednesday evening. I use an ounce to two gallons of water (Gold Class Wash) and don't really worry about stripping off the Klasse cause I enjoy putting it back on. My garage queen gets many fewer washes with very diluted wash as it doesn't usually get dirty - just dusty.

I'm surprised more guys don't wash in the rain. After my car's been in the parking lot all day and been rained on, it makes it super easy (and safe) to wash my car. Then I just pull it into the garage and dry it off.

Being that I have what some people refer to as the worlds ugliest vehicle ( Pontiac Aztek ) and it is in Corvette yellow it attracts quite a bit of attention. I also have my part-time business advertised on the back window and as a detailer your vehicle better look great all the time or you might lose a potential customer.

I wash at least 2x /wk and QD in between washings. In the winter I still either washed it in the bay 2x /wk or occasionally when the weather wouldn't give me a break I took it thru the touchless and QD'ed in my garage. I drive my Aztek daily so it easily gets dirty with our sh*#%& weather hear in Toronto. All my washings are at during my full time job as a civil servant shhhh!

The wife's 2002 Santa Fe gets washed once a week or I will be moving in with my dog in his luxurious 3x3 condo.

Twice a week for sure on the GTP. Qd after each wash with Z-6. Apply eagle 1 on the tires. And clean the windows. Everytime I wash I open all doors hood and trunk to get all the nooks and crannies. The 96 minivan gets it once a week.

Usually I wash first thing in the morning on the weekends(Sun.) but when I get a chance its after work just before the sun sets so I dont have direct rays helping to dry the car.

I QD and dust my cars everyday... once in the morning and once at night. It really helps cut down the number of washes per week, and for those who know how long it takes me to wash, it’s a good thing.

It also keeps the road contamination off the car as the contaminants don't have time to sit making it less necessary to clay the car.

And a gallon of Final Inspection can be found for less than $14 here…

Like ELD, since my car represents my business, I try to keep mine clean. I wash it after it rains and the rest of the time (provided it isn't too bad), I dust it each day and QD every other, although in the summer I am so busy I might only get to my car a couple times a week with the duster and QD.
