Want to Transfer Product To Smaller Bottles

I want to start transferring all if not most of my compunds, polishes and other bulk bought product to smaller flip top bottles but I dont know what to get as far as bottle material goes. So far it's between PET, HDPE or PVC.

I've read somewhere that you have to use the same bottle material as the parent bottle to avoid reactions. I have also read that some had problems with store bought HDPE/LDPE applicator bottles softening/breaking down with certain products in them. Could it because of the quality cause i've seen HDPE bottles used for motor oil and some solvents.

I really want to get one type that will handle any product/chemicals in my arsenal without fear of reactions, leakage etc. and the PET bottles seem to be the answer to that. The only negative is that the PET bottles are alot more ridgid than the popular(but iffy) HDPE bottles which makes them harder to squeeze(accuratley).

Should I get different material bottles to match what product is going into them?

Heres the types after reading the bottoms of the bottles of product that I have:

Menzerna SIP/85RD: HDPE

Presta UCCL: PET

Megs(105): PVC

P&S Full Throttle: HDPE

With the exception of solvent smelling Presta, the rest seem to be water based, which kinda expalins why the Presta bottle is made of PET.

So should I order a dozen or two PET bottles for all my products or should I order a dozen of the PET and a dozen of the HDPE? I'm currently looking in SKS-Bottle and USplastic online.

I know i'm reading into this a little too much but I just want to make sure. I would Really hate to ruin $40 bottles of Menz and Megs(or any product for that matter!)!

So what have you guys found/used/experienced?

BTW, what size bottle is good?

I really want 12oz. but it seems rare. Seems like it's goes from 8oz. straight to 16oz. at most online stores.

I use these DI Accessories Yorker Style Dispenser - 8 oz | Detailed Image or these Meguiar's Dispenser Bottle for everything i have

You are worrying to much. Just toss them into a bottle and go to town. LOL Unless it's some sort of hash acid I don;t think you'll have any problems.

www.bottle solutions.com They have no minimums and you can mix and match bottles. The material the bottle is constructed of does make a difference. Water-based or not, there are some products that will break down the incorrect type of bottle. For example... I had a bottle of Chemical Guy's Speed Wipe Detailing Spray, I put it in a HDPE bottle, all seemed fine until I went to shake it one day and the bottom of the bottle was a brownish color and as I was shaking it, the bottom let go. No, the bottle did not split nor was it dropped. I now have it in a PVC bottle and have had no problems. Also, I seem to remember a thread over on AGOL about a particular house-brand sealant had an issue reacting with the bottle material, it was changed and all was good. Just some food for thought.

go to your local harbor freight and they have the 6pk of the 8oz. flip-top or ketchup style bottles for around $3-$4...

Plastic Tanks, Plastic Buckets, Plastic Bottles, Labware, Plastic Tubing, PVC Pipe, Plastic Sheet - United States Plastic Corporation ®

They have a bunch of different bottles for cheap and shipping is cheap too. I found this site searching for a hand pump dispenser for my gallon sized car wash (cg citrus gloss n wash).

I would think HDPE would work great for waxes and polishes. And anything used to clean such as the detailer use pvc. And for solvents definitely pet, since that was what was used for it. I have a few hdpe bottles and they work great for squeezing out polishes. For really "watery, liquid" things like cleaners/solvents you don't really need a squeeze bottle, so a sturdier bottle as pvc or pet wouldn't hurt. There's also sprayers available on that site too.

On that website for a 16oz bottle:

HDPE: $0.82

PVC: $0.85

PET: $0.58
