Want to soar with eagles????

Training has varied success with varied people as anyone in business with employees knows.

But if you send a duck to an eagle school and what you will get is a very bored duck and a great many irritated eagles.

The duck will sit in the eagle school rolling his eyes, telling all the other birds about how stupid it is to even try to catch little birds in mid-air or dive at 160mph for filed mouse.

He even tells the instructor all the reasons why you can't go it.

He argues with the eagles that it can't be done, even if some of them are already doing it.

No question we need ducks, eagles as well as chickents, sparrows, ostriches as well as owls.

But we must remember that they all do different things and do them differently .

So you should not go to an eagle school nor send employees to an eagle school hoping you or they come back as eagles.

Good people are found, not changed. People can change themselves, but you cannot change them, especially if they are not interested in changing.

You want good people you have to spend some time finding them. If you want motivated people you have to look for motivated people. And they do not work for peanuts either. As they say, "you get what you pay for.A"

Keep in mind that a duck is a duck. He knows and and you know it. Right?

Of course a well-trained duck is better than a duck with no training, but bottomline he is still a duck.

Now on the other hand, an untrained eagle comes back from eagle school ready, willing and able to perform. Unlike the duck, the eagle sees all the opportunities of being an eagle and takes advantage.

Don't be mad at a duck for failing to soar like an eagle. Remember he is a duck.

An want ad for a hotel stated, "We do not teach our people to be nice." The following line said, "We hire only nice people."

Of the many seminars I have given to crowd of detailers; car wash operators with detail operations and to dealers some seem very motivated and walk out with an attitude they are going to make some changes as soon as they are back home.

Others you can tell walk out with the attitude, "Yeh, yeh, I have heard all this before."

People are all different. Some work so hard they are going to get sick getting so little rest, while others are hard to get off the couch.

What is the difference? Why would you not strive to be healthy, wealthy and happy with life?

To be more? To get more? To give more?

That is life and what you need to learn is that don't waste time trying to turn ducks into eagles.

Hire people who are already eagles, and give them something to soar about.

I've tried turning ducks into eagles. Didn't happen. Actually made me take a look at and change my business model because of it.

I believe you either have it or you don't. I've spent my share of time over the past 28 years with a Fortune 100 company in all kinds of training classes, motivational seminars and other snooze fests. The worst are the ones that have some annoying guy bable on about how he tried to be the best and failed, then he found this course, it changed his life and now he travels around pimping this course/book whatever to poor bastards sent my some mis-guided middle manager. My day job is in sales, and nothing suceeds like being sincere and honest about the product - not some read off the chart crap (ever see the "my name Peggy" guy?)

A good detailer can deliver a car looking like new, a great one is a maniac that takes it to a level that blows minds. If you don't understand that, you ain't got it.
