i have seen what looks like a dark areas on my door and pannels where other are bright white. Is this cause buy contaminats and what should i used to get rid if this. I tried clay baring before and it did not go away. My friend told me that my paint might be fadding. i'm a newbie so if you can let me know that will be great.

you can kind of see it from the bumper to the front lip. i'll take more better shots of it in the morning.

Maybe it is just my monitor but it looks like the trim is a different color in the second picture. Is that what you are referring to???

It also looks like your bumpers are a different shade of white compared to the rest of the body...Is this what you are tlaking about?

Maybe it's me, but I can't see anything in those pics. If you are talking about *dull* areas, then you are probably dealing with oxidized paint and you just need a good polishing to bring back the depth and shine, that's all. Time to do a real detail.

MaThGr82, yeah thats what i'm talking about a different shade. is there anyway of getting rid of it. i know its kind of hard to tell because it is white on a sunny day.

It's probably stained from contamints. Where I live ohio that would be from salt. I see alot of that. If it's on the doors it's probably from a splater. Like brake dust, puddle? If you put dressing on your tires that will cause dirt and brake dust not to stick to your tire and it will get flung on your fender or doors.

If AIO doesn't work then try a polish. I really don't think a paint cleaner would work. Always start with the less abrasive polish. What polishes do you own? I really like Sonus SFX polishes and pads. The pads are less cutting. Which is nice, because it lets the product do the work and you won't take off to much. I use the SFX#2 first. That is a light swirls, oxidation and other contamints remover. The cars I do and have been using SFX it would get all of the swirls and light fading or staining. Only a couple of times I had to use #1. It's a cutting polish, I believe like a 1500 grit sandpaper. I used it on serious oxidation or scratches that I fixed. I had better results using Sonus then Mezerna. It's easier also to use. I used a PC 7424.

If your using AIO and it's not removing it then your going to have go to a polish

Well this is what i have Zfx, Z2 Pro, Z6, Z7, mothers califonia gold Clay bar system and AIO. I also have a PC 7424 and i just got the Sonus DAS pad kit and lake country 6.5in gray pad. should i use the DAS buffing Bonnet to buff out the zaino and AIO? or should i use 2 differnet bonnets one for each?

Dvs Ndn, Has the paint been like that ever since you bought the car? The reason I ask is that I have noticed with Acuras and Hondas that sometimes the painted bumpers and trim sometimes will have a different shade to them. I have no idea what causes this and I think it might have something to do with the differences in the way the paint bonds with the plastic bumpers as opposed to the metal surfaces. I noticed this a lot with a 2001 White Honda Accord I owned previously.

well i remember when i bought it everything seem to match but over a year or so it started to fade in areas and it looks embarrassing , so i wanted to get rid of it.

Yeah I would pick up a few more just to have handy. When i detailed my truck this past weekend (wash, clay, polish, wax) I think I used clost to ten towels for everything from drying to interior to polish and wax removal.

I would definitely try using the AIO on it.

The Concours Buffing towel is the best MF towel for removing P21S, SG and AIO.

Whe applying the AIO use a pad because of the polish and cleaning affect, but use a MF to remove and way possible. Only use a nickel size for sections.

Use the less abrasive polish first on the sections that are discolored. work a 2x2 area on speed 4 then when hazy turn up to 6 till a dry haze. which is about 3 passes. Then go to the cutting pad and a cutting polish. I like Sonus. I don't know those products you have. Probably because there all abreviated. I'm not good with abreviations.

Looks to me like uneven fading of the paint because those areas are plastic. I think its a common occurence. I see it on my brothers Lexus IS300 (yellow) the plastic trim (door handles, rear spoiler, bumpers, etc) is a lighter color yellow now. Thats just my opinion though, I am no expert.

The paint on 'plastic' bumpers and trim pieces is, by design, different in composition. The trim really flexes quite a bit (from both temp changes and physical stress.) So, simply, since the addition of flex agents make a different paint formulation, one should expect different aging characteristics.

The fact that your white is likely a THREE stage pearlescent, just adds to the mix.

Odds are quite good that it all an oxidation issue. Is the car kept outside during the day?

As mentioned, start with AIO/PC#5 and go slowly, keeping the panel moist. AIO is only a chemical cleaner, but action of the PC/pad combo will do 'some' actual polishing.

If you don't see immediate results, it'll be time to cowboy up, and move to a polish that will actually cur the paint.

In my shop, we'd probably start with rotary/polishing pad/Meg's Speed Glaze.

Good Luck!

what would be a good example of a cutting pad and a cutting polish? i have Zaino polish and Sonus Pads? and if i have them what color is it? yes, i do keep my car outside too much stuff in the garage.

Dvs Ndn:

Do you know of an Autopian Detailer in the Downey area? It would be best to get a professional opinion. You'll probably spend less having a pro get it right than actually buying ALL the stuff you'll need.

PM me if you want to go ahead and get the the stuff you need.
