Want to Expand into Mobile Paint Chip Repair?

I am thinking of getting into mobile Paint Chip and Scratch repair. I have seen some kits through various vendors and I was interested to know if any of you have looked into these systems? Rightlook, Detail King, Dr. Color Chip etc. I know about and have used the Langka system, but I am looking more for the ability to mix or use the paints on site, not having to worry about finding the matching touch up paint before a job.



All of my customers vehicles, all have some type of chip or rash, and I am looking to be able to 1. fix the problem areas up sell the service while I am detailing, and 2. Be able to market this and venture into this type of reconditioning.



What are your all thoughts on the paint chip repair systems? Some involve blending and air brushing, while others involve pre-mix paints.

I subcontract most of my paint work. But, my tech is moving into collision repair, and is looking to sell his business and/or equipment. Everything is from Paintbull.



He just did complete front and rear bumpers on a Chrysler T&C van for me - $500.



Probably $5000 for everything, including training. PM me if you have interest.
 
There's two forms of paint repair:



1. Touchup. Applied with a brush. Applied to small chips and scratches. Takes about 2 hours to learn. Kits cost $800 - $5000 depending on the number of premixed colors.



2. Bumper scuff and scratch repair. Sand out scuffs, cuts, and scratches. Fill. Prime. Basecoat. Clearcoat. Takes 200 - 400 hours to achieve professional quality. Kits range from $5000 - $15000 with training. It could be up to a year until you've mastered reducer selection, gun pressure, gun distance, metallic flop, clearcoat lay, clearcoat burn in, and many other issues technical and business. It's a long road to go down.



Touchup can add $25 - $100 per detail (yes, you can repair road rash with touchup for up to $100). Spray work: $150 - $500. I'd recommend starting with a touchup kit then moving into spray work slowly.
