Waffle Weave Drying Towel Owners Inside

For those of you who switched to WW Microfiber towels for drying your car, how often to you wash the towel? Do you wash it after each use, or just rinse it out and let it dry and wash it every so often?

When I started with them, I used to launder them after every few car washes. I would just hang them to dry, figuring they were used on a clean car, so they were clean. Once I acquired a few though....washing them after each use seemed like a much better and safer idea, so that's what I do now.

I wash mine every so often... I probably use it to dry our cars about 2-3 times a week, then the WW towel sees the wash about every 2 weeks, sometimes 3. I may wash it more often if I see it getting dirty and or I drop it. My thoughts is that after *My* washing there is almost absolutely no dirt left on the cars surface, so drying the car's clean surface isnt really getting my towel dirty. Im about to purchase two more towels, so i can have one per car.

I generally soak in clean water bucket from the wash...rub a bit around to get out the dirt.....rinse and hang for next time. Very seldom do i bother to wash properly as I wash (or even just give a quick wipe down after a quick spritz) -- so often that I'd have to wash every couple days

Yep, I wash mine after every use. I hate to waste water when washing, so I usually hang them to dry and keep a dirty detailing towel hamper in the laundry room and wait until it's enough to make a load. I bought a few ww's so I just keep grabbing a fresh one until I'm ready to wash and then rotate my towels before putting them away. The biggest reason I'd say to wash it between uses is no matter how hard I try, there always seems to be a spot or two that still has some dirt on it and the towel picks it right up. Sometimes, it's around the license plate or my hand slips and catches the inner fender skirt, etc. and I wouldn't want to rub this towel on another paint job.

i wash all my microfibers and ww's, everytime i use them. don't want to take a risk on any dirt/debris particles scratching the paint. this day & age, you can never be too sure. better safe, then sorry....

And this from a man who has plenty of towels :D

I normally toss my towels into the "hamper" after each drying session.

Ditto. This is exactly what I do. I throw it in a hamper with the rest of my MF's and do them all at once.

Mine have been washed about 20 times, and they are showing the effects. They are not nearly as plush as they used to be, and don't dry the paints as good as they used to.

When I wash, I only put the WW's in, and use a tiny blob of Cheer liquid detergent. I put white vinegar in the fabric softner dispencer.

Sometimes I'll run a rinse cycle many times just to be sure all the soap is out. They still feel hard and crappy after this.

To dry, I put in dryer on low heat. How else do you care for the WW's?

I wash my WWs when I have a full load of MFs to wash. That usually means after about 2-3 weeks they get washed.

Like 01bluecls said, I don't see drying a clean car as getting the WW dirty. If I drop it or something, then yes, I do an emergency wash. I take all the dirty MFs I have, and all of my WWs, and wash them. I rinse out the dropped WW first though, before putting it in with the rest of the MF stuff.

I use them once then they go in the laundry bag I have just for MF. When I have enough for a full load I wash them. Warm water and liquid Tide Free. Double rinse than into the dryer on low heat. No problems and some are almost two years old.

Try not to put in the dryer (even low heat cycle), hang them try. It should prolong the life of ww. However, family members might interfer mf international flags all over the places.

I also heard pinnacle MF detergent will bring back the softness. Haven't try it yet.

I don't agree with this. I have always put mine in the dryer and there are no sighns of wear. I have waffle weaves from many different vendors. The one time I did hang dry they dried stiff and didn't feel right. Machine drying makes them feel much softer for some reason.

Well....I never put MF in the dryer at all. It's true about the stiff after hang dry though.

Assuming heat always is the ingredient to wear things faster.

I wash after every use in cold water with a cold water rinse. I do not use any detergent simply because there is no dirt on the WW. Once in a while I'll add no more than a tablespoon full, just to get a little cleaning action.

I do it on a mini load and hang to dry. Once it is almost dry, I put in the dryer on the air setting and let it go like that until dry. It fluffs it a bit.

Sometimes, I wash them with my sheepsking mitts in the same fashion. The left over car shampoo acts like a detergent and they get clean. I wash my sheepskins after every wash and let air dry.

Just wash them separate from your other MF's.
