Volvo S80 T6 -04 "Neglected Edition"

This car came to my friend, who is a professional detailer and I helped him with the boot, left rear fender and left back door. As you can se the paint was in a realy bad shape, it must have been living in a swirlowash machine.

And to make it worse, this had a rock hard clear. Well I gathered my swirl busters, Menzerna PO85RD3.02 and PO106FF and my flex rotary and began to work...

Great defect correction on a really nice car there, I love Volvos. :) Excellent finish achieved.

I didnt realize you could work such a large area with a rotary.

Yep, you can work a larger area than you can by PC for example, and the Menzerna polishes (PO85RD3.02) are very nicely lubed so dont dry out too quickly if you are working over a large area.

How much product do you use for such a large area??

Maybee three dots, with the size of a larger pea? Hard to tell...but I think I could have used less. Love Menzernas polishes, a little goes looong way.So they are very economical.

No problem, but I don´t work larger areas then this.

Huge improvement! You get any full car shots when it was finished?

My friend finished the car tonight, will check it out tomorrow when he will buff off the sealant.

I agree, it´s a realy nice car, my father has one as well. I would not want to polish this car without the SCR polishes from Menzerna. Shame that I will get the new PO016FA next week, would love to test it on this car.

Thanks rydawag :)

It´s a yellow pad, very coarse with a PPI of 40? But it finishes out very well on hard paints. Look at the BMW X3 I did, I used the same pads but with my top tool.

Many people I know would never use them on a car paint, but as I said before, it works like magic on hard clears. Works fine even with a finishing polish like PO106FF or 3M 80439

The first car I did was a dark blue metallic Mercedes ML and the 3M 80439 extra fine cut took out some pretty bad swirling with this pads.

I can send you some pads if you want?

Thanks Porta!

I use my lc yellow pads often also. I just did a volvo with hard paint and I used a wool pad and a rotory. Came out like glass.

Where did you get the flex rotory? How would you compare it to a regular rotory. And that top tool is amazing!

I love the Flex rotary beacuse it´s so small and easy to handle, sometimes it´s nice to have a heavier machine when doing roofs, hoods and boots. But I prefere a smaller machine when polishing the sides of the car and around bumpers and etc.

I bought the rotary from Germany. The only downside with the machine is that is not built to be used 8 hours a day 365 days a year. And you can´t uses larger pads then 6,5".

Interested of the pads?

rydawg here are the pictures on the ML I was talking about in the post above

Porta, do you find the clear on the old MLs to be pretty hard? Mine doesn't look as bad as the one in the photo, but I can't seem to get all the swirls out with my PC. Maybe I'll try a rotary this spring. I have LC yellow pads, and Menz. PG, IP (older formulation), and FP.

Hard to tell, I have polished older Mercs with hard and soft clears same with the newer ones.

Have you tried the LC cutting pad and Menzerna PG using the slow cutting method.

Buy the yellow 5,25 LC CSS pad from danase and give it a try before trying a rotary.

I will try the 5.25" pads and reread the post about slow cutting before polishing the Merc this spring. It's snowing here now so it will be a few months.

Nice work there !!

Congratulations my friend.

Could you put a link of this PAD?

Regards Marcus, I'll upload my details here also one day ;)
