Vinyl Stripes

A customer is wanting his GT500 done this weekend, and I am a little concerned about the stripes. It is a white car with blue stripes. He says it doesnt need much, if any correction, so I am thinking a good polish will take care of it. However, whats the deal with how you work on or around the vinyl? I dont want to have these things get stained or start cracking down the road.

You can do a number of things. You can tape off the stripes at the edges to keep from catching them. Another member once mentioned starting in the middle of the stripes and working out toward the edge, but I think the pad could still catch a loose edge or something.

Yeah, I think your best bet would be to tape them off.

The main thing to remember is: Don't put anything on the stripes!

There is another thread somewhere about some stripes that had a product put on them and it ended up a nightmare!

I've always gone right over the small pin striping which has been both painted and vinyl and never had a problem. Bigger stripes on the hood I've never done. make sure u lcome back with your experience from it...oh a GT500!! we need pics!
