Vinyl / Rubber / Plastic / Leather Protectants

I normally use 303 Aerospace Protectant for my cars' interiors, but I have to mail order it and it isn't cheap.

I was wondering if there are any good alternatives that are available OTC.

I found Armor-All Natural Finish protectant that claims to protect all the materials against UV radiation, and does not contain silicone or phosphorous. The Armor-All Original Protectant with the new and improved formula claims UVA and UVB protection without containing phosphorous - but the warning against using it on seats and steering wheel covers suggests it contains silicone.

The Natural Finish had a nice smell, and it did not feel greasy at ALL. It *seems* to be very similar to 303, but I did not buy it at the time.

The only leather in my cars are on the steering wheels, everything else is rubber/plastic/vinyl.

You should be able to find 303 Aerospace Protectant at a boat or marine supply store. It is very popular in the marine industry. I think I have seen it for sale at every marina or marine supply store I have been in. You won't have any shipping charges, but it still won't be cheap. :D

The 303 is a great product and natural look NL is another to me they run hand in hand, but I prefer the NL, easy to use, smell and versatility....is that something that you can buy locally?

I'm not much on OTC dressings, I can get real good detail supplies locally here....you might check with your local detail shops or car dealerships and see who they have as local suppliers.... I have read that AA is now a water based dressing that should be OK for the most part...product is 10% process is 90% so the application is almost everything....how are you currently putting this stuff on?

I found Natural Finish at a grocery store. I normally use a cotton rag to apply the 303.

The Natural Finish felt like a water based protectant... it wasn't greasy at all and smelled quite nice.

My bad when I read natural finish I was thinking natural look by one of the sponsors Poorboys world.

as Charles said the 303 is available at most marine supply stores....Lexol has one out that should be OTC called vinylex that I like.....the application is to clean the area real well of all oils and dirt this will make sure that the product spreads evenly....then use a foam, cotton or micro fiber applicator....spray on the applicator and wipe the area that you are working on....next with a clean towel, buff the area so that you even out the product.

Again check your local detail and car dealership for their suppliers...I did and found a real good on in my area....lastly if you buy over the net....buy in the gallon form....its much more cost effective for you in the long run.....I know it took me a while to get use to paying for shipping but with the invention of the net and all the shipping or goods that happens shipping costs are way down at the bulk level

Is this Metroplex from Mustang Forums/TMS?

If so welcome. This is 06GT4RAD

AS for a OTC product for the mustang if this is you I have not found anything i like yet. The only things i have found that i like to this point it.

poorboysworld.com

I apply it with a MF Sponger applicator and then buff it off with a MF towel.

Hi! Yep, I'm the same metroplex from various Mustang boards. I've been using 303 products in the Stang and Crown Vic with great results, but I happened to come across a wide variety of interior protectants at the store. I know to avoid petroleum distillates and silicones, while I'm skeptical about applying plasticizers to the vinyl directly (Black Magic claims to do this).

The 303 left too glossy of a shine on the top of the dashpad, and seems to wear off too fast when used on the outside.

Did you buff the 303 with a clean towel after the original application?
303 is not intended to be a wipe on, walk away product on vinyl. It should be buffed after application, the more the better. I've used it for years and one reason was the matte finish it leaves rather than a shiny finish.

The only exception to that is when it is used on tires and that's a process of its own.

When I first started using 303 I bought it at a local place that sold toppers and tonneau covers.
16oz was $15.95
I now buy it when it is on sale at Autogeek for less than 50 bucks per gallon.
Yes I have to pay UPS put that is only slightly more than the sales tax if I buy it locally and per once it is MUCH cheaper than buying locally in the 16oz bottles

I use Megiaurs Rubber and Vinyl Cleaner conditioner in my F-150 but did not like it in the Stang which is why i use the product i posted above. It works great.
