Very Dirty 06 Fusion

I just put on a coat of poorboys natty's 2 days before this wash and this is how dirty the car got in one 24 mile round trip to base. The roads here in England are horrible. I put on 2 applications of AIO and 3 layers of SG a few months ago in preparation for winter. The interior was looking pretty bad too, I get a lot of mud on my combat boots while at work so I needed to do some spot cleaning on the inside. Here are the before pics.

Dirty floormats before cleaning.

Washed using 2 bucket method.

Meguiars GC Shampoo

Chenille mitt and pinnacle bug & tar sponge

Simple Green wheel cleaner on wheels

Meguiars Plastic Detailer on headlights and tail lamps

AIO on grill

Bissel little green machine on interior floormats

Wiped down interior surfaces with microfiber

For those of you who ever end up washing a fusion, the grill has an unlimited water supply, IT NEVER STOPS DRIPPING!

A little history on the car, it was custom ordered through military sales and devlivered to me here in England, I requested that it never get washed to avoid swirl marks and they honored that request. It was delivered to me in April, swirl free and dirty. I immediately drove it home, washed it, clayed it, and applied its first application of the Klasse twins. Since then it has been washed by hand by me and only me and it still doesn't have a mark on it except for a few small rock chips. It also got clayed before I put the second application of Klasse twins on it right before winter.

Here are the afters.

Hi!!

Nice looking pics!! I was a confused when i first saw that as i know we dont and wont get the fusion in the UK. As we already get a Fusion and its a little jacked up Fiesta.

With all the dirt on the outside you will have to watch that colour interior!!

I have a question, of all the cars in the UK for which you can get almost everything how comes you choose to import a Fusion?? Esp. as its a left hooker??

Geoff

Very nice, mate - a big differene between the before and after shots, and the car loks great now... particularly like the interior shots showing a brilliant clean inside.

Why did I choose to import this car? Because I can! Actually it is because I'm American and I am stationed in the UK because I'm in the military. They ship one American spec car with us for free. We are also allowed to buy things duty free through military sales. So I chose to custom order this car in the color I wanted and had it delivered to me tax free, it is also getting shipped back to the states with me for free when I leave.

Very clean now inside and out. :up

I usually keep some hand size towels in the car folded at the base of the front mats. That way if its raining or my work boots are very dirty, I can quickly extend the towel over the mat.

Explains everything!! I gathered you were from abroad but now i see the tax incentive and they ship it for free!! :up :up

Do you get tax free petrol too?!!?

Wow, you weren't kidding when you said it was dirty! Even with less than ideal lighting, in the after pics, the paint looks amazing! :)

I would suggest getting some all weather rubber mats, to use in the winter. Talking about mats, what´s the thing under the pedals in front of the drivers mat?

The interior looks like new! And very nice shine on the outside.

I would have a hard time in the UK with a US-spec car. I can adopt to a RHD car but having a LHD car makes passing an adventure. But I applaud you for sticking to and believing in your principles.

Very dirty was certainly an appropriate title. What a big difference after the wash, it looks great. When I first saw your photos I was going huh? too. I'm curious about the extra brake light, is this required by law? Three aren't enough on the Fusion? From the ones I've seen here the brake lights are quite bright. You've got to love Natty's it sure does help shed the dirt when you wash. :woot:

The piece in front of the drivers mat under the gas pedal is a spot for your heel to rest on. Depending on what shoes I am wearing, my heels hardly ever touch it but at least it doesn't get in the way. The little light on the back is a rear fog light, these are required in Europe and they help a lot. It is temporary and will come off when the car is shipped back to the states.
