i just detailed a friends 2002 ish model black pontiac grand prix and after thorough washing and claying i tried a test spot and could not get ANY of the water spots out from the paint and was using my PC ...

i didnt bother wasting his money or my time and said i know its a daily driver but if i was him and he does have the money to get it polished at a shop

im assuming a shop polishing would be the only way to get rid of the etched in water spots that were over the whole car ....

anyone got good remedies to this problem in using a PC ?

or is there no other way than to go get it rotary polished and take off a small layer of the painted surface to remove them ...

the car was always to my knowledge kept outdoors and obviously never garaged which you can tell and is not the best idea but im not sure hes worried about it

Have any PB's pro polish? Ive had alot of success removing water spots with it.. and i use a PC.. may have to do a few passes though..

It will require patience you can remove all the clear coat with a PC but no one wants to spend that much time but my point is it will do it given enough time.
I would use a LC orange or Yellow with aggressive polish if you don't have a rotary..

Some water spots can't be gotten out without ruining the clear (burning through the clear to the base coat). I'd get them as good as I could and live with them.

If they were mineral deposits from hard water I would say pro polish and patience with an orange pad but if they were in fact deeply etched water spots I'd say "pass the buck" and allow it to be someone elses problem, which you did....good call.:bigups

yeah i guess im just gonna have him get someone else to do it or id be there charging him for tons of hours of my labour when some shop could probably get it done quicker
