Velocity Red RX-8

I've had my Velocity Red RX-8 for nearly 8 weeks now, and decided it was time to post some pics. This paint is pretty cool. When looking at it in direct sun, it has some cool gold flakes in it that really jump out at you. These are somewhat hard to photograph, but I gave it a shot and I think you can see them in a couple of the pics. When the car is in shade, it takes on a different color and look, more dark and reflective.

Current combo: SSR2 (yes, it was a new car but still had swirls!), AIO and Trade Secret x2.

Much thanks to Anthony Orosco and GSRStilez for recommending Trade Secret Carnauba wax on Red. I highly recommend this wax. Gives the paint a deep wet "glow" that looks fantastic. Combine that with incredible ease of use and great smell, it is a real winner. Simply a pure joy to use.

Here is an overall shot:

Here's a shot of the hood taken from inside the garage that shows depth and reflection:

Here's an outdoor shot showing the paint in a combination of shade and sun. That's me with my yellow PakShak Ultra Fine MF! :D

This pic was taken in direct sunlight, and is about as good as I could get the gold flakes to show up in a picture:

Half shot of car. Again, notice how different the color on the hood looks compared to the side of the car that is in direct sun (although this pic doesn't show the hood all that well):

The last shot just shows the kind of "glow" that you get when the car is in the shade, due in part to the Trade Secret:

That's it for now. This Thanksgiving, I am thankful for products like AIO and Trade Secret, helpful forums such as this..........and 9000 rpm rotary powered vehicles. :bigups

I would love to red line that car on a curvy stretch of road. Talk about fun! :bigups

Have you considered painting the break calipers? I think that would really be awesome if they matched your paint.

Break Caliper Paint

That looks awesome,
I have been considering one of those but I need to get rid of a couple other toys first.
That is my favorite color on the RX8

And the RX-8 has a buttery smooth 6 speed tranny that makes redlining this puppy at 9000 rpms a true joy! And she loves curvy stretches of road.

Thanks for the recommendation on the caliper paint, Dwayne. I am definitely planning on painting them Red, but didn't know what paint to use. Now I do! :bigups

It's nice to see so many people who really like the Gold flake in the Red paint. When I first started shopping for an RX-8, I was really struggling with what color to go with. I wasn't sure that I like the Red, as it is a darker red than some. I finally saw a clean Velocity Red at a dealer (you would be surprised how hard it was to find clean vehicles) and the gold flake really popped out in the sun. My decision was made easier, and in hindsight I can't believe I ever even considered a different color!

It's definitely a color that it best seen and appreciated in the sun. Luckily we get quite a bit of that is SoCal!

I second that! :shift

How do you like Trade secret? How would you campare it to other waxes you have used? I was thinking about trying out some TS. About a year ago I tried S100, and can't stop using it! I think I'm addicted. :dunno

Very Nice Car! The hood shot is sweet looking!

I completely love the TS. You just know that you are using something "special" when applying it. Goes on like butter, and wipes off very cleanly. It has oils in it that help give the paint a deeper wet glow. It doesn't attract as much dust as some other carnauba's I have used (such as Blitz wax).

WOW.....great results!

I have been so busy lately that I really haven't had time to just mull around here on the forum but I believe after 20 days of pretty much non stop work for Ron and myself I am able to take a breather...phew!

I am happy to see that you enjoy the look of the TS and it really brings out the nice flake in your paint. Again a wonderful detail!

Anthony

Thanks Anthony.

Yes, I really love the Trade Secret. Not only does it give great results, but it is a pure pleasure to apply and remove.

Highly recommended.

Man, what a sweet looking ride. I really like the RX-8's, and they have been getting really good reviews.

Very nice looking detail too.
