Vanilla Moose Glaze - my review

Detailing NY

New member
I have been using the same products for years now. I have tried several products along the way but they never seem to live up to my standards.

I made a swap with my friend Scottwax. We traded bottle for bottle.

I have now used VM glaze on a few cars and here is what i think of the product.

At first i gave it a good shake, the poured some out. wow it comes out quick, a little too much came out. So i learned to pour it out slowly. It is a thin liquid not thick at all.

I applied it with a foam applicator by hand from side to side motion. This applied very evenly & effortlessly. It was even easier that i clayed the car prior to this for a smooth feel.

I wiped the glaze right off, wow, the results were instant. It looked deep & wet. The product came off as easy as it went on.

I thought to myself if the results are this good what about using a pc. I applied a little to the car and used the pc to work it around.

the results are just the way i like it "perfect".

I thought ok, i did it by hand & pc, what about a rotary. well i got the same look i was looking for. went on & off very easy.

I did not try this just one on car or color car. I have tried it on blacks, pearls, reds & blue. The results get better the darker the car. In fact my own car which is a pearl white came out great. I cant wait to do it again this weekend.

So now the car is a little dusty, I used the Moose quick shine and BAM, right back to that wet look. I even used the quick shine on the glass. A little bird told me it was ok to use on glass.

These products live up to my standards and will be added to my detailing equipment.

It should be mentioned that these products can be used in sunlight as well. Great stuff, it's been a while since something came out this good.

Brian-glad you like Vanilla Moose and Quikshine. What a great find in the most unlikely place-a perfomance shop in a mall of all places!

I like VM more and more every time I use it. Whether I top it with Moose Wax or S100, or even not topped at all (it does contain wax), the results are fantastic.

I have a customer who buys cars from her Dad's wrecking yard and fixes them up and then I detail them. She doesn't care about a 3 step process, just a quick shine on them and Vanilla Moose really fills the bill. It is very fast to apply and remove and it looks like I spent all day on the finish.

As most of you know, I absolutely agree with Brian's statements. Mr. Glass- you've done well and created a great product. I'm a moron and didn't realize he had the new specials and could have gotten a gallon of quickshine for cheaper than I paid for the other stuff. Great stuff.

Great review!

Are you using VM Glaze on a perfect surface (i.e. no swirls or spider-webbing). I'd like to know how well it hides imperfections and for how long.

Scottwax:

I'm currently using meguairs prof hand polish; How does VM compare?

*I think it's time to import more products again.

I am using them on veh's that have swirls and ones that dont have swirls. As for removing them, I have not been able to judge if it totally removes them as i have not seen the cars i did in a while, and for the ones i have done recently the swirls were to deep to come out.

It has a slight abrasive that will remove light swirls and scratches, but for moderate to heavy swirls, you need to use something stronger.

I've tried them both side by side and they both have a very wet look-VM is a little brighter and more reflective and HP darkens the paint a slight bit-but VM wipes off with no effort. Can't say the same about HP-although it is more user friendly than #7 is.

NY detailer - What are your favorite detailing products? Wax, Polish? Sealent? Car wash? Swirl remover? Just curious.

To quote the immortal words of the Signature Sheriff: "The perfect finish is a process and not a product." I'd suggest you look back at this thread: http://www.autopia.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=158578#post158578

Also, you'll find that you'll get more helpful replies if you do a bit of reading and searching first, so you can narrow-down your questions.

Hope this helps.

Scottwax,

Based on your experience with Meg. HP and VM, would you say that VM is not actually a glaze filler but a mild polish? I guess HP is more an oily filler in comparison and it sure does take some effort to remove when I apply too much.

jgv,

Maybe German customs is doing too good a job and want to try the products first  'joking' . I'm sure you'll get the package soon. Let's us know how you get on.

I have lots of products, anyone that has ever seen my truck or detail area knows I come with everything ready to detail.

I have found that knowing what works best on what colors is a great way to start out. You will need to try this out on your own.

Test some products, see what works best for you. I am pretty set in my ways right now and I am pleased with the results I get.

As for the exact products I use, at this time I can not post them. I need to keep some things a secret right now. I am in a area where we have lots of so called "detailers" they are nothing more then a wash shop that waxes.

In my area, there are only wash shops that scratches :D One cloth washes the days cars, 5, 8, who knows.

No competition in this business down here :xyxthumbs

Yeah, VM is more of a light polish-less abrasive than Swirl Free, but more than HP. Swirl Free followed by VM makes for an incredible base to wax over. Best combination I've found so far!
