Vandalized BRZ, Porsche Turbo S, a couple Teslas and a new STi

Get a call from a guy who tells me someone threw paint on the back of his car, said he wanted it removed and the car detailed.

After using Optimum Opti-Clay black (aggressive) on the bumper:

Had to hand polish the tail light with Optimum Hyper Compound and an MF towel. There was a lot of ghosting from the paint I removed, so first polished with Optimum Hyper Compound, then Hyper Polish, both using a Rupes green (coarse cut) foam pad and Rupes DA.

Full process:

ONR wash
Opti-clay black (aggressive) for paint removal
Opti-clay yellow (mild) rest of the car
Optimum Hyper Compound, Rupes green foam pad and Rupes 21 DA (where paint was removed)
Optimum Hyper Polish, Rupes green foam pad and Rupes 21 DA (whole car)
Optimum Opti-Seal
Armor All on tires/wheel wells

2012 Porsche Turbo S. Owner recently purchased it use out of Illinois. Dealer had unfortunately detailed it, leaving buffer trails on the paint and the clear bra on the front end.

Before

After-note the calf development only 27,000 miles on a bike since 2007 will get you...

ONR wash
Opti-Raser (mild) to clay
Optimum Hyper Polish using a green Rupes foam cutting pad, Rupes 21 DA
Optimum Opti-Coat Primer Polish using an Optimum blue foam waffle finishing pad and Rupes 21 DA
Optimum Opti-Coat Pro on paint and wheels
Optimum Glass Coating on the windshield
Armor All on tires/wheel wells

Couple of 2014 Tesla P85 Model S and a 2015 Subaru STi detail. All three were in excellent shape, bypassing the dealer prep seems to make all the difference in the world on these cars. Same process on all three.

ONR wash

Opti-Coat Primer Polish using a yellow Rupes foam polishing pad and Rupes 21 DA
Optimum Opti-Coat Pro on paint and wheels

Nice save on that first car Scott! As far as your dedication for biking even better! I don't know which I like better...the white or silver Tesla.

Nice work as always Scott!  How do you like the Rupes pads?  How does the green compare to the Optimum orange waffle pad you've been using?  What are your thoughts on the blue Optimum finishing pad?

The Rupes pads extend a bit further past the edge of the backing plate, little bigger margin of error. Thicker pads, more open cell design, gives more cut with the same polish yet the finish is pretty good. Seems to hold up better being flat vs a waffle design, the large orbit of the Rupes seems to be harder on pads than a regular DA. The blue Optimum pad is terrific on softer paints, finish combined with Optimum OC Primer is excellent.

So would you say Rupes pads are > the Optimum orange & blue waffle pads?  Or, is it worth having both Rupes & OPT pads in your arsenal?  As you probably know from my other thread, I plan to use these new pads on the Rupes 21 as well as a Griot's DA.

I need to buy some new pads so I'm just trying to figure out where to spend my money so your experience & opinion on these is greatly appreciated!  :)

Honestly, its worth having a wide variety of pads, just like polishes.

I currently have:

Meguiars MF cutting pads

Meguiars MF finishing pads

Meguiars yellow foam polishing pads

Optimum MF cutting pads

Optimum orange foam waffle cutting pads

Optimum orange foam flat cutting pads

Optimum blue foam waffle finishing pads

Rupes green foam cutting pads

Rupes yellow foam cutting pads

Rupes blue MF cutting pads

Rupes yellow MF polishing pads

Propel blue foam finishing pads

Oh, I have an assortment already, I'm just trying to figure out what to buy next. How many of each of those pads do you try to keep on-hand? I typically try to buy in 6-packs to gethem a little cheaper (megs, b&s , uber, etc.).

I guess I will get a few of them both (Rupes & OPT).

Scott, how is the Tesla?? I would love to have one! It's on my Top 5 list of favorite cars! Recently did a Porsche 911 also, got to say that's on there too!
