V50 RD SportWagon w/11mo old OC

Here is my vehicle with OptiCoat that was applied 3/2011. These pics are right after an ONR wash only. IMO gives a good idea as to the "look" of OC. I applied OC within days of it coming off the boat and I really like how it is still noticeably easier to clean.

Areas that really stick out to me are:

  • The exterior black plastic on the mirror housings and cowls - have stayed nice deep and rich.
  • Wheels: Has changed wheel cleaning for me due to ease of cleaning.

On with the pics

Been working on your macro shooting skills, I see.... nicely done!

That Volvo is a very cool ride; you wouldn't know it's 11 months old with as clean as you keep it

Thanks Charlie... I have been impressed with how well oc has held up and macro shots seemed like the best way for me to show the gloss of the paint surfaces and also how the black plastic has held up, 11 months and 16k miles later....that is my lowest mileage in years!

Looks really good! :)

I've had OC on my own car since September 2009. Definitely still there, using something on top of it changes the beading characteristics, within a few washes, the tight, round beading of OC is back. Still very easy to wash too.

I love your car Jason! Opti-Coat makes so much sense too. I still remember the aroma of Z-10 from that day. :)

Thanks David... Love that smell!

Thanks Scott, I am very pleased with how well OC has performed... The ease of washing is the characteristic I like the most!

Hey Scott, does that mean that whatever LSP you are topping it with is gone within a short time as it can't stick to the OC?

Not to speak for Scott, but yes..... If you add something on top of OC durability of whats on top will not be close to what it would have been with nothing under it.

Man that is a testament to OC.

Has anyone tested it with no other added LSP's?

I agree - it really is a remarkable product!

I have not added any additional lsp's to the coating... ONR and Opti Clean is all that has been on the paint since being coated
